The kind of people at UW

So, I know that UW has large class sizes. Is it easy to make friends and stuff? I'm a pretty shy person and am in no way interested in Greek life.
In other words, how are the people at UW? Is there a place for everyone there or only just some people with a certain type of personality? Any other info would be great!

Thanks!

I am applying to UW so I have yet to know from personal experience. However, I have heard that UW is truly diverse in its student body with all kinds of people. I would assume that UW is more for the open minded individual because it’s huge and there are a ton of students from all over. I’m sure everyone can find a certain crowd to fit in with…

The campus is just way too big and student body way too large for you to expect people to come befriend you. With that said, there’s many, many clubs you can join. Depending on the type of person your roommate is, you might have a good friend there too.

Even though classes are large there are smaller quiz sections where it’s easy to get to know other students. Most of the time they’re about 25 people. Don’t be afraid to ask the person next to you to trade numbers/email just in case you miss class and need notes or something. Also, a lotttttt of friends are made within the resident halls. There are a lot of floor activities. I’ve met new people just sitting in the library. I’d say you have to go out of your way to not meet any new friends. And like LousyDonut said, clubs are a great way to meet people.

I am naturally shy, but learned a long time ago: you cannot expect people to come to you. You must make an effort to seek out people.

Also, I’ve heard the FIG program is great
