The Loomis Chaffee School

Yes it would be pretty cool. But wouldn’t this make the acceptance rate higher for boarders and lower for day kids ?

Most other schools allow applicants to send in their recommendations a little later for whatever reason. Loomis, on the other hand, requires you to send in everything before an interview can be scheduled. Sad, but yeah.

Does anyone know about FA at Loomis? My parents just got the EFC back and it’s really high, much higher than they are able to pay. If school uses that number, I won’t be going. I’m not mad, just disappointed.

HI LOOMIS PEOPLE.
so loomis sent me an email legit like an hour ago inviting me to apply. i was a bit confused because i know its WAAY past the deadline so I emailed them back and they replied and said they were still accepting apps. i live about 3 hours away which is manageable.
how is the school?
is there a strict dress code? how is the lacrosse and field hockey program (forgirls)?
how is the environment?

First off, no you don’t have to send in your application before you interview because I didn’t…
ylax1123:
For lacrosse I am almost positive there varsity girls team was undefeited… As for field hockey, this year they won about 50% of there games…
The dress codes is deffinetly not as strict as some HADES schools but there is a slight dress code: like no jeans, ect…
The enviroment is good, and as for the overall school it depends on what you like…
Also, they look down on late-applicants so it would be harder to get in because application reading starts soon…

yes, lacrosse went undefeated and new england champions. field hockey was I think quarter finalists in NE championships, so I guess you could say they’re decent.
The environment is awsome, but socially and actual natural environment, the school is sooo pretty.
dress code: ya, no jeans, no hoodies. easy enough to get used to.

I still don’t receive decision letter from Loomis!

me neither, and I live like an hour away, so there must be some sort of problem, or they just mailed them ON the 10th

Am I the only one who didn’t receive anything today either?

i didnt get mine either??? someone please call them to find out whats up

ik i am wondering if the rejections come later than acceptances… i mean i thought i would be atleast waitlisted. but i thought i would be accepted because i’m a hockey recruit :/

I have yet to receive anything either.

i got accepted and i got my letter yesterday (3-11)

still havnt heard from loomis yet…

We live in NY (about two hours away from Loomis) and did not hear until Saturday the 12th. Hope good news comes tomorrow!

I got my acceptance letter on Saturday the 12th. I live in the mid atlantic.

this is to any current LC students are parents:
i’ve just gotten my acceptance letter and am still making my decision. i know LC is more of an arts/dance/theater school but is it also strong in other academics too? (math, sciences).
and what do people do on weekends? i visited and windsor seems like a lovely town but is in the middle of nowhere. are there shopping places nearby? public transportation?
thanks!

LC is located in a very pretty town. There is public transportation that will take you to numerous shopping centers and malls. The school also provides outings to shopping on weekends

@newlcstudent - I’m not a current LC parent, but DS applied at Loomis and was accepted as a LC Scholar. Loomis does have a great arts programs - but it also has first-rate academics: excellent writing program, strong math and science, a FIRST Robotics team, and they’re rolling out Computer Science classes. We found all the people we met - students, staff and faculty - to be warm, non-pretentious, and excited to be part of the Loomis community.

Does anyone know if Loomis usually goes to the waitlist? If i got wailisted does that basically mean i am declined?
