The MET-Middle Eastern thread!

For those who live in ME, let us get to know each other!

IHS-Jordan!

no MEsterns? BussinessSpank where are you from?!

Hey IHS, good of you to start this thread. Where are you hoping to go to college in the fall?

Hey Alex,

Well I applied EA to Harvard and I was deferred(No one from Jordan applied so they couldnt compare me to anyone) I also applied to Yale, MIT, U of M :D to mention a few.

If I graduate this year, is it a good idea to apply to U of M in July to maximise my chances for acceptance? I am out of state btw.

How are costs at U of M for out of state students?

hey! i am from cyprus. if u wanna chat, i can send u my msn address. btw i applied to mit, yale, upenn, jhu, vandy so far.

MIT, Harvard and Yale? Are you planning to major in a hard science, Econ or Political Science? I can't really see a common trait between those three schools. One of my best friends in high school (we are still best of friends and keep in touch very often) all the way back in 1992 is Jordanian, and he got into MIT, Princeton and Stanford. He decided to go to Stanford and he double majored in Economics and Electrical Engineering.

University of Michigan, I needn't tell you, is awesome. Sounds like you havre a great bunch of schools. Well, I am not a fan of Yale (New Haven is a dump), but MIT, Harvard and Michigan are great.

hey pozexis, PM me ur ID

Alexandre, I'm thinking of neuroscience as a major and both MIT and Harvard offer it. Yale offers something similar, whereas at Michigan, it will be biomedical engineering.

IHS, Michigan also offers Neurobiology/science as a major...and is actually very strong at it.

It is, in fact, a collboration between the Biology and Biomedical Engineering programs. I really recommend you look into it, assuming you decide to attend the University.

http://www.mcdb.lsa.umich.edu/undergrad.php?&sidenavInfo=undergrad&sectionOne=concentrations

great...but I already applied for engineering:( can I transfer if I decide to matriculate?!

Relax bro, you don't have to transfer. You can do that concentration as a Biomedical Engineer...just take some classes in the M&C Biology department. The degree itself is a collaboration between the BME and Biology departments.

Furthermore, assuming you decide to major purely in Biology (which is part of the college of LSA), you can easily transfer from Engineering to LSA. It is only difficult to transfer out of LSA into Engineering or into Ross (the B School), but transfering from Engineering into LSA is quite easy.

Thnx thats relieving...well it looks that asians actually dominate CC!!!

Yes they do. There are only 300 million Arabs...compared to 3 billion Asians! LOL I mean China has 1.3 billion people, India has 1.1 billion people, Indonesia has close to 250 million people, Pakistan has over 160 million people, Bangladesh has over 140 million people, Japan has close to 130 million and the Philippines and Vietnam have close to 100 million people each! I mean hell, that's already three and a quarter billion Asians, and we haven't counted other sizeable countries, like Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand etc... Altogther, we are talking about a population of 3.5 billion Asians...compared to a mere 300 million Arabs.

Alex, are you a portable encyclopedia I have never heard of?! lol!!!

I'm feeling lonely, you know!!
