I’m not as thin as I used to be. But since the pandemic, I think I’ve finally am becoming comfortable in my skin.
I’m not as skinny, I’m not worried about wearing makeup or putting in my contacts. Or dressing up that much. I’m a 61 year old woman who looks her age.
Who tries to eat right and exercise. I don’t look like I can pass for my daughter and I’m good with that. My husband isn’t worried and we both are working at being healthy.
@deb922 , Same here. I don’t wear makeup and have never dyed my hair or been into super fancy clothes . If I started now in my 60’s, my husband and kids would think I’d lost my mind!
That is totally correct. That is why I find it hard to order online unless I know for sure what size I wear in that brand. Then still I have been fooled.
Re: shape wear. Mine is all one size larger than my usual size. I’m not looking for a girdle or a girdle feel. I’m looking for something to smooth things out. One size larger does the trick for me…not uncomfortable at all and does the job.
I think shapewear has gotten popular because pantyhose is not in style. Regular gives a little compression. Control top gives more compression, but even when I was heavier they were not my thing… too annoying.
@Colorado_mom , I think you’re on to something! I am so glad/relieved that I did not have to deal with pantyhose for son’s wedding. So glad pantyhose does not seem to be popular these days!
You are looking at one such person! I hate being cold. Just no to blue, goose bumps covered legs sticking out of boots. Hose is perfect shapewear for my knees in addition to providing warmth. I don’t wear cheap crap. Only Wolford will do. Maybe a Pretty Polly once in a while, but those don’t last. Never in the summer though.
I recently visited our local Dillards. They were overflowing in dresses. One large floor area was devoted to prom dresses in younger sizes ( a LOT of “princess” style formal wear). Another floor had a huge selection of long evening/wedding guest type dresses. The selection was very random, and organized primarily by color. They may have only one or two dresses in a particular style or size. Actually, it looked like all the returns from those of us who may order a few dresses online and return the ones that do not work to the store
No winners - yet, but I had limited time. With the huge selection, I was at least able to try on a few styles and sizes from various companies to see how their sizing compared. I was also able to nix some I thought I might order. Definitely worth a visit if there’s a Dillards store near you, with a similar dress area!
I like that dress…. very pretty. I’d consider something like that. Tried on a tiered dress I liked the other day, but the dreary maroon color wasn’t summery enough.
I do like it, but was iffy on the colors with my skin tones. When husband compared with my old dress, I could see his points.
I’ll probably take one run through Fashion Mall and check out sales at Macy’s etc., but then as of May 1 I’ll be having my eyelid and brow lift surgery so will not be shopping any more until the June 1 trip for the wedding.
