The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

@Colorado_mom
I think Nordstrom (or at least some other companies), if they don’t have that item you see online in stock at your local store, you can order it to be sent to the store for you to try on there.

@Marilyn You mentioned subdued floral and here is one of the links I showed to @Colorado_mom where the floral is more subdued:

Yes, that’s a pretty pattern although I’m not a fan of the sleeves. Several of the Adrianna Papells in @VaBluebird’s post were also “calmer.” I think someone in too flowery of a dress, especially if petite, could get lost in pictures taken in front of greenery/flowers.

I love that dress, and think the person looks terrific in it. Something like that would look good on @Colorado_mom in my opinion.

I do think that silhouette would look good also and seems to be more in line with something @Colorado_mom might wear than the Anthropologie dress.

Same!! I am a huge lover of dresses!

What about availing yourself of this free service if you are near a Nordstom’s??

That is a great idea for @Colorado_mom to get an appointment with a Nordstrom stylist.

I am lucky to have a friend that works at the Nordstrom near my house and I will definitely be asking for her help when I get serious about looking for my MOB dress for D1’s May 2024 wedding. This friend has helped me in the past when I had a short amount of time to get a dress for an occasion.

Oh… personal shopper service would be great, especially since I’ve been worried that perhaps Nordstrom has also cut back on salesperson assistance. It looks like scheduling is pretty open if I select “any” for stylist. It’s more than an hour away, but we were already planning to head there this week. Thanks for the tip

I sometimes shop at a tiny local store because we know the owner and like her personalized service. (Also she has a nice mission of sustainability, US made etc; ha…. that’s not a priority for me in the MOG search.). But there is very limited choice in my size range, even for casual clothing. However it was where I got my beloved NYDJ black jeans after weight loss, back when they were still made in US.

Son has gone in for free consultations at Nordstrom a couple of times to get ideas on sizing. Good experiences and helpful.

Idk, but I wonder if you book with Nordstrom’s far enough ahead of time if they can pull in from other stores/inventory and get even more in petite sizes??

Doesn’t Nordstrom have an alterations department??

They do! Ours is very big and has a speedy alteration station.

I think so. One of the questions on the signup was whether I was interested in alterations. I said Yes since it’s a good guess. Tues appt. We are retired, lots of schedule flexibility.

If you II are going to Denver (judging by your screen name), there is also a Neiman. I had good luck finding reasonably priced dresses there. Just skip the Gucci etc. sections.

So Nordstorm…

Son aka Cousin OG needs a suit for the wedding since his were so old nothing fit. He was planning on making a consultation appointment at Nordstrom and hoping they could find him something affordable. Clearly he has little need for one since last time he wore one was eight years ago so doesn’t want to make a big investment.

The recent comments here inspired me to see what they had in his size online. Lo and behold there’s a Boss suit at 60% off (so cost about $300) - one left and it’s his size. I brought it to his attention, he likes it, and ordered it to be shipped from Chicago to the Seattle store. When it comes in, he’ll go to alterations (yes, Nordstrom has the department) and hopefully it fits. If not, fully refundable.

I’m not sure it’s considered a year round suit but he isn’t concerned. He doesn’t like the buttons but I’m sure Nordstrom can change them out. Crossed fingers it works out!

Thanks - Nieman Marcus has never even been on my radar. Actually surprised to see any dresses there in my budget ($200-$300, maybe more if something is perfect). It’s also in Cherry Creek area of Denver.

In case it helps others, NM MOB

If you hit Neiman, look for their clearance signs in the dress section… Too bad there isn’t a Saks. When Saks clears out their merch, they really mean it! :sunglasses:

I like the Kay Unger Berry Sorbet sleeveless crepe for you.

Maybe. Often V necks are better on me, but I’ll ask about it if we get to NM after Nordstrom. On me it would be a long-ish dress, not terrible. (Or alterations)
