The New School University?

Hello all! I was accepted to Eugene Lang College The New School For Liberal Arts.

The school seems to be great, and was my first choice based on the fact that all classes seem to be conversation based and, well let me be honest, the school is in NYC!

The concern I have is that I do not want to get in debt, or at least not a lot. At this point, the school would cost me 3x more than my current school, granted 3x more is not THAT MUCH more in the actual dollars.

Question: Do you think it is in my best interests transferring there and getting in debt with the hopes of paying it off one day but living in NYC, or should I settle to go to a cheaper school and maybe never make it out to NYC. I guess I wouldn't be as obsessed with this school if it wasn't in NYC.

Clich

Depends on your major as well. If you’re in a major that has a high earning potential, than you should take on the higher cost and debt.

Also, if you’re in NYC, you have better opportunities for internships, so better career prospects, etc.

I am a bit concerned about the lack of majors since I am not 100% sure I know what I am doing but they all seem to be more on the humanities side. I am fine with Economics I think but honestly not quite sure.

What foreign language majors do they offer? I looked at their offerings and they seems to only offer beginning language courses…? Do you like it there?

3x more is NOT that much? You were kidding right? :)

$100,000 vs $300,000
