The no-news-is-good-news NMF rejection/acceptance/worry thread, Class of 2018

We only found out that S made NMSF because a newspaper hundreds of miles away published all the names in our state. The school never got their notification, and the GC had to call NMSC to be walked through the process of submitting his info.

I have a feeling we’ll get the letter to the house before we hear anything from the school.

Finally got the certificate from school, but no particular ceremony or presentation, since we also, like @chercheur, have a large school. They took a picture, but it was after swimming, so I may wish he had been on a college visit…his comment, “probably should have brought a comb.” Then I asked him, “Did you know what it was about?” Had to laugh when he said, “Well, it was during Calc 3, which had four of the SFs, so yeah, we kind of knew.” Yep, that class tends to have a lot of these kids in it! @Emory85, that is just crazy, and yet so believable. :frowning: I’m sure in the long run, AP Econ will be more beneficial, but what the heck were they thinking!!!

When D handed me her certificate yesterday, it is just a half-letter size piece of cardstock & hers was a bit wrinkled from being in her backpack. I was struck that this unassuming little piece of cardboard was worth as much as $200K depending on where she chooses to use it.

Congrats to everyone who has heard! To those waiting, hang in there it will be soon!

National merit finalist in southern California!!!

Nothing here either. I’ll be curious to see if the home letters show up on USPS informed delivery, i.e. if they are just letter-sized envelopes instead of the larger ones that went to schools/homeschools which did not show in informed delivery.

Nothing in SE Nebraska still. I’m hoping the home mail will help us out here in the next day or so. I’m getting exhausted worrying about this everyday. @traveler98 My informed delivery usually includes those larger sized envelopes so hopefully I will at least see it in the morning before the actual delivery. That is, of course, hoping that he is a finalist. [-O<

Has anyone from the Oklahoma City area gotten a certificate yet?

Nothing here in DEEP EAST TEXAS

Nothing here. Down in the garden eatin’ worms.

Nothing here, just the sun. Tomorrow, we hope.

@Moocat85 I texted a friend who lives in the state (not in OKC specifically) and their response was “nothing.”

LOL @DiotimaDM that brought back memories!

@sewin2music did you receive notification from GC or Principal, or did you receive actual mailing from College Board?

Received my letter today in Houston (homeschooled)

Nothing here in southern Kansas!

There is no way these were all mailed on February 5th.

@Susan1323 I agree. It says it was mailed by first class mail so there’s no way it took that long.

@kevbostic I heard from my principal!

Crickets in Plano, North Texas. Really dumb! They have been sitting on this since last week. No way they can claim that they have not received anything. This is despicable. Its just not believable anymore.
