Hello everyone! Long time reader, first time poster. Anyways, I felt that I needed to post today because of the fact that I signed a TAG (transfer agreement guarantee) today to go to UC Davis. Great school, one of my top choices. However, I always felt that if I dont at least try to apply to Berkeley, I’ll regret it the rest of my life without ever knowing if I was good enough. Anyways, my major is Political Science, applying to the College of Letters and Sciences. As of right now I have a GPA of 3.54. I’ve accomplished the IGETC and completed more than the minimum requirements/prerequisites. Here’s the kicker, I’m full-time military. I was going to school full-time while I was deployed. I guess some of my EC list things such as was part of the search/rescue/evacuation of victims during Hurricane Katrina and Rita in Mississippi (was awarded humanitarian medal for that), helped raised $50,000 for March of Dimes, volunteered weekly at the battered women’s shelter, involved with various community programs such as toys for tots, feeding the homeless, etc etc. I unfortunately with my plate full have not been involved with many school functions/clubs/organizations. When I submit my application for UC Davis, I also want to submit one to Berkeley. I’m now a California resident, been here for over 2 years now. What do you guys think? I know my gpa is subpar, but I was deployed or sent to fly on missions almost abruptly and had to fight tooth and nail with my professors to be able to turn in late assignments and retake exams. Some, unfortunately would not work with me and I had to take the 0 on a few occasions, which in turn didn’t give me the best grades possible. Thanks for all your input.
