@CompSciUCTrnsfr Don’t worry, bro! I’m in the same boat, except I applied to CS as an alternate major while choosing CSE as my primary. I looked at the stats before applying so I wouldn’t have that awful admit rate. I, too, have a 4.0 (3.96 with an A- from a UC school) and I’m sad with the admit rate for CSE. I think it’s 10/224… good luck to the both of us? Nah this is gonna suck. If you look at the 1 person who enrolled into CSE from the admission statistics for 2013, you can see that his GPA is a 4.0 and he’s taken 110 semester units… my god:

@campfireweekend @Cayton Our honors program coordinator person made us get our IDs from them so we could fill out the certification forms and all they would have to do was verify it in like February

@chaoscuber haha, at least I won’t be alone this weekend. I applied the opposite with CSE as my alternate. And I think that is quarter units (at least I hope it is >.<) It says enrolled for CSE is 133 units on that page. So I think that would be something closer to 90 semester units? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.

@CompSciUCTrnsfr Actually, I’m sorry to say that it’s 165 quarter units for the ONE GUY who enrolled with a 4.0… it’s literally the craziest thing since 165 quarter units translates to 110 semester units, which means the guy has been in college forever or he’s taken hundreds of AP tests (or something, idk). But man, I’m going to lay in bed for the majority of the weekend, considering I have 3 tests and 3 labs due next week… if I get in, those labs will be done in a heartbeat. If not, those labs will be the bane of my existence. 133 quarter units is 89 semester, so yeah you’re right on that one. These stats might make you feel better: https://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_tr/Tr_Prof10_mjr.htm#SEAS

What I did was I compiled data for the last 6 years for CS and CSE and found out that on average, around 240 apply to CS and 15% get in (more or less). It just so happens that last year it was insanely skewed and UCLA had no spots to hand out since no one dropped out of CS as a freshman/sophomore.

@chaoscuber woah, that is pretty insane, the 70 unit cap must really suck for him haha, luckily I just finished 3 tests this week so I can afford to be a little depressed this weekend if I’m rejected and party if I’m accepted (on the very slim chance…)

Hi everyone It appears I’m on the same boat as all of you, waiting to see if I’ll get into UCLA, it’s my dream school and the wait is brutal. I’m actually a little concerned-- I’m applying as a Psychology major, have a 4.0 GPA, a part time job and summer job that takes a good chunk of time, some volunteer hours, and a solid essay. I was invited to apply to regents as well. However, I am currently finishing my last prerequisite course, and while I know I’ll do fine in it, I’m wondering if this will make or break my application My counselor seems to think I’ll be fine, as well as my aunt (who is also a counselor), but I just can’t shake this unsettling feeling! Anyways, good luck to all of you! Hopefully we will all be seeing each other at UCLA this fall!

I’m not too sure what you’re concerned about. How can you do any better than a 4.0. I wouldn’t be concerned in your position. I had a friend of mine accepted as a psych major last year with a 3.8 GPA and she wasn’t even TAP certified.

Well, she does still have one pre-req class to go, which would understandably cause her to worry. What will probably happen is that UCLA will accept her but give her a contract stating that she has to earn an “A” or a “B” in that class.

I just don’t know what to believe any more. Oh well, there’s nothing to do but wait. Why would some admissions reps state the release this weekend? I’m starting to think they aren’t sure. I’ll give them a call and see what they say.
