The Official Fall 2014 UCLA Transfer Decisions Thread

@Shugahs‌
I received one in Feb about my AP exam too.

I would like to think that they were at least kind of considering me? Cuz if my other stats didnt qualify at all they wouldnt bother to email me.
But that’s just my optimism. I wouldnt look too much into it. It’s better to not get our hopes up too much.

@shugahs
From what I’ve heard it’s not necessarily good or bad, it just means they need more information. I got that email the first week of February (I had to send them a transcript of college classes I completed in high school). However, I thought of it as a good sign or a sign of being on the borderline because if they were certain they were going to reject you why would they ask?

@Cayton‌
My major is Poli Sci. I have a 3.74 Overall UC GPA. I have a 4.0 Major GPA. 4/5 Pre Reqs done with the last one in Progress.
My personal statement emphasize my story of being an ex-gang member, young father, and a first generation college student and the challenges I have had to overcome to get where I am.
The other personal statement talked about my passion for changing the world because of my son.
I’d say 9/10 on them based on reviews from others.
I was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, and two organizations that dealt with formerly, and currently, incarcerated youth. Setting an example for them by providing an ear, and some guidance.

I had a rough first two semesters (9 credits worth of classes were bad grades but academically renewed this year) in 2010 after being released from Juvenile Hall so I left. Since returning to school in 2012 I have had 5 semesters of all A’s except two classes (44 units completed, 9 more in progress).

So what do you think? Shake the 8 ball please. Lol

@happy123all mine lets me pick a term to view.

So if I haven’t received an email regarding scholarships does that mean my admissions is questionable?? I don’t mean to sound paranoid

@smashley93‌ I hope so! That is what my mom said, but shes my mom so of course she is soo optimistic!

@globeneon‌ @Lilyblue12‌ i figure its probably not a bad sign. What has caused me to be nervous is it was only last week, Wednesday, and we are already finding out today!

Ahhh!!!

GUYS

I JUST CHECKED THE WEBSITE!

NO UPDATES.

@zwriter25‌
From what I have read on here some people with 4.0 GPA didn’t get scholarships either.
Not that I know any of the other stats, ECs, etc of those 4.0 people. But you’d think they’d get invited.
I didnt get invited either but I’m trying to not look too much into it.
It has something to do with your financial situation as well.

@TheUnderdog1‌

Although UCLA doesn’t seem to care as much about personal statement and ECs as it should, I’d say that they may just take notice of your past struggles. Your GPA is near the average for admitted political science majors last year, so I think you stand a decent chance of getting admitted.

But UCLA is kind of robotic with its transfer admissions, focusing more on the numbers(GPA, number of pre-reqs completed, that sort of thing). Your major GPA is perfect. Having a pre-req in progress probably won’t hurt you. They’ll probably just tell you to get a certain grade in that class. Your story is very, very compelling, and I say that as someone who’s known a couple of gangbangers and ex-gangbangers in his life. What you’re doing for your community is great. If UCLA doesn’t accept you, they can just ■■■■ off. :)

Did you apply to Berkeley? They’re definitely more holistic in their admissions and take into account personal statements and life stories more. They would certainly love to have you.

And good luck to everybody!!! [-O<

@uclammg I am wondering if everyone can see this message and if this message has been changed from the other message. I cannot remember the original one. Do you know if this message we’ve got has been there originally?

@smashley93‌
You’re probably right. The timing of it gave me false hope.

@Lilyblue12‌
TYBG. I’m assuming you’re missing Communication Studies 10: Introduction to Communication Studies? Hahaha, hopefully I don’t cry in front of customers. I’ve already met my awkward moments quota for the week.

@Cayton‌
You won’t be for long, what with that fancy UCLA degree under your belt.

@happy123all I don’t know how accurate that is since they use myUCLA now instead of URSA.

@Cayton‌
Yeah I did apply to Berkeley. Don’t know if I’d actually go though. Housing is crazy expensive out there. Lol kind of a turn off for me.

@TheUnderdog1‌

As expensive as Los Angeles? I bet not.

@purplewedding you don’t have anything called comm1 at your school? what school do you go to?

@purplewedding‌

Let’s hope!

@purplewedding
Yup that’s the one!

I really hope I’m not one of those weird cases that gets invited to regents and then rejected…

@uclammg‌
Pierce and Valley! We have comm1, the principles of oral communication course, but not comm10.

is housing around Berkeley really too expensive?
