The official Germany thread for the class of 2013

Woww! That’s a biggie!! Congratulations, but I am sure that won’t be enough to compete with your enthusiasm. I am really happy for you. A person nominated for the prestigious Emmy Awards deserves a lot. You certainly got a bit. With luck, maybe you can keep your fingers crossed for a lot more. All the best!

P.s. Are you majoring in Drama/Art/Music related subject? Must be cool.

Yeah, I think Im gonna double major in Film and Theatre…thank you guys for your congrats.

@DerDeutscheMann:
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
and forgive me if this sounds stupid (and could you please reply quickly) but, how do I tell bennington that i want to stay on the waitlist. i haven’t recieved a paper letter from bennington, the only thing i’ve got is the pdf version of the waitlist letter. am i supposed to print it, fill it up and fax it or …???

I wrote an email to them explaining that I wanna be on the waitlist and that I will also send the printed Waitlist-letter. But since long distance mail can take long to get there, I wanted to make sure they know about my decision asap.
Actually I had not even sent a hardcopy of the waitlist-letter, when the acceptance came in. Still unbelievable to me

Hmm, that’s unexpected. Maybe they were just trying to find out which international students were sincerely interested in attending?

Congratulations!!!

Congratulations. Especially on the financial aid part.

@everyone present here
guys can you please tell me how to you rate Jacobs University?
you guys live in germany so i guess you know a lot more that we internationals do.
How much is the “Computer and Electrical Engineering” recognized in the Germany and in the world? Please write about Jacobs as much as you know…it will be a great help for me

and please do tell me how much is the recession hitting Germany? As far as i know, Germany has the most stable economy in the world…please tell me the present situation

Jacobs is a fine university but it apparently does not rank that high.
Germany might have a stable economy but the recession is definitely hitting Germany.

Well in all likelyhood I’m not going to go to the US this fall.

Oh no! Why?

didn’t get enough aid. and I don’t know if I would (want to) get a loan.

Did you try to negotiate? ‘Negotiate’ is a wrong word, but you know what I mean?

I wouldn’t want to take a loan either, but have to. It’s a small part of my finaid package.

I’ll try to contact the college but seeing the crisis I doubt it’s of much use.
Taking a loan could be tricky. It’s definitely not a small amount, at least not for me, and I am probably not the most credit-worthy person; no safeties etc.
Guess I’ll see and hope for the best.

Silence, do contact the college! I mean you’ve worked so hard to get in, you can’t be ready to just let it go! If you were admitted with at least some FA, it means the college sees you as a worthy investment. They might be willing to invest more. Several K won’t make a great difference to their budget, but it can be a determinant fot you. Good luck!

Silence, vielleicht ist das was für Dich: [Bildungsfonds - Studienfinanzierung ohne Studienkredit.](http://www.bildungsfonds.de)

so, any news for you, fellow germans?

I’m going to Grinnell after all. The reviewed my financial aid offer, and I’m able to attend. For now anyway, can’t say if my financial situation is gonna be all that stable, but I’ll find a way.

Congrats to you Silence…Im glad “negotiating” worked out for you. All in all it seems to be a quite successful year for German applicants despite the financial crisis. Im proud of you all and of myself

congts to everyone! :slight_smile:
just a question.
i see u all applied to at least 10 colleges and lets say the application fee is app. 50 $ each. u paid more than 500$ or u asked for the fee waiver?
thank you
