Completely agree with this. Volunteering is volunteering, whether through an organization or on your own time. An organization may provide validation, but in an interview format you should be able to talk about how important you believe it is to help the environment, and expand upon that by addressing the work you’ve done through beach clean up. Caring about something, then going and taking action to address it on your own time is more difficult and less common than signing up through a program to go and do a one-time volunteer event.
I was just reading through the Andover enrollment materials, and it is mentioned that I should “take time to review the Blue Book … The latest edition will be available this summer, but please review the current edition prior to signing this agreement.”
Anyone know where I can find the 2020 version? I looked online, but only the summer pdf is published.
I don’t exactly know what the blue book is or much about it since I’m not going to Andover, but I did some digging online and it seems they publish the pdf versions online. Could they possibly post it there later on?
I looked online as well, but it’s seems that they’ve only published the ‘Andover Summer’ version, and ones from a few years back.
Is the book a handbook? If so I found the 2018-2019 one online.
I don’t think that’s it, but I could be wrong. I’m pretty sure the Blue Book is more like a long list of the school’s rules and disciplinary procedures. That handbook was interesting to read through though!
I have the Blue Book as a pdf on my computer, which I can’t seem to attach to this. I will send you a pm. If you (or your parents) have access to the Hive, it is on there.
Just answered the pm. Thanks!
One of the Swiss boarding schools I applied to told me that I’ll get a decision tomorrow. Do I assume their time zone? They said around 10am.
just check the whole day? would you go to a swiss school over kent?
ugh but idk if i’ll be able to sleep if i know it comes overnight. i probably would choose it over kent. there would be much more to do and i’d have a much better experience.
for IB?
not just IB. switzerland would give me a better experience overall. skiing in the winter, the culture, etc.
I suggest checking the whole day, however if they said 10am I assume they really mean our time.(assuming EST) For waitlist students the notifications go out after 4, and since Switzerland is 6 hours ahead, that would be 10am us and 4pm them. Though I do not know about boarding school patterns abroad, so who knows? Just be alert the whole day.
haha. have fun learning french tho, i’ve taken it for a while and it’s easy for me but most people say it certainly isn’t a cakewalk.
good luck tomorrow!
Not sure about the time zones but good luck!!!
If you wanted you could probably email the admissions office and ask them what time they meant
I am!
Accepted!!!
Omg yayyyy!!! Congratulations. So happy for you
