The Official M10 2021 Freakout Thread

awww. i’m happy to be leaving my old school  but also sad to be leaving my neighborhood. I’m super close with my neighbors and their families so that’s gonna be emotional. i don’t think it hit me that i’m leaving yet. i didn’t get any forms, but Hill did email me today asking me for a photo for my student ID!

we’re getting placement tests and stuff in the summer i believe.

Oh cool! Loomis has started their roommate housing survey.

Nice!!!

@prepschool2021

Regarding Switzerland - are you international student or do you have some experience of Swiss culture already? My father spent part of his youth there and we still have friends and I am not sure I’d say the culture is “better,” certainly different. If you are an American student the rigidity and conformity might be an adjustment. The school itself might operate outside of typical Swiss culture - I know nothing about boarding schools abroad.

I’ve been to Switzerland once before, so I’ve seen a little bit of the culture. I would much rather live my life in Switzerland than in the US which really draws me there. Plus, I feel like I could use something different. The school honestly doesn’t operate by Swiss culture because of how diverse it is, but the surrounding area seems very unique.

lucky…i don’t get that stuff until july and i’m so excitedddd

Nice!

Idk if it’s just PA, but the school year starts much later than I expected. I think I get around 3 more weeks of summer before leaving than my friends at lps will have :joy:

@Yuhh222 , glad you’re working on the roommate questionnaire. I can tell you, from personal experience, that 40 minutes is doable (but just!) and exhausting. You have to get up that much earlier, may end up doing homework in the car, have to go to see your friends on weekends – it’s really at the limit of what can be sustained and it’ll require a sacrifice on your part (and your parents until you can drive. ) It can save money but if you figure out how much each week, it may not be worth it. Totally recommend you stay the boarder course!

I think I will stay a boarder. Thank you for letting me know! I do really want to have a good boarding high school experience, and not have to make it hellish by ruining my schedule with driving. Again, thanks for the advice!

when does PA start? I have to be on campus by the 5th of september, but we don’t start class until the 7th.

lps for my district starts on the 31st

Oh wow you guys start much later than Loomis. We start on the first of September

If I remember correctly I believe Milton resumes on the 17th of September lol

I think classes start September 9th at PA, but my local school goes back August 16th with orientation on the 12th.

wow that’s super early. school usually starts around the 1st of september for new york public schools

bruh that’s so late what

When I was younger it was August 29th every year, but starting around 2015 they seemed to move up the start every year in Illinois (or at least in my county lol).
