awww. i’m happy to be leaving my old school but also sad to be leaving my neighborhood. I’m super close with my neighbors and their families so that’s gonna be emotional. i don’t think it hit me that i’m leaving yet. i didn’t get any forms, but Hill did email me today asking me for a photo for my student ID!
we’re getting placement tests and stuff in the summer i believe.
Regarding Switzerland - are you international student or do you have some experience of Swiss culture already? My father spent part of his youth there and we still have friends and I am not sure I’d say the culture is “better,” certainly different. If you are an American student the rigidity and conformity might be an adjustment. The school itself might operate outside of typical Swiss culture - I know nothing about boarding schools abroad.
I’ve been to Switzerland once before, so I’ve seen a little bit of the culture. I would much rather live my life in Switzerland than in the US which really draws me there. Plus, I feel like I could use something different. The school honestly doesn’t operate by Swiss culture because of how diverse it is, but the surrounding area seems very unique.
They asked me about if I was a morning/night person, how neat I was, social or reserved, single , roommate or no preference, values I seek in an ideal roommate, study habits!
Idk if it’s just PA, but the school year starts much later than I expected. I think I get around 3 more weeks of summer before leaving than my friends at lps will have
@Yuhh222 , glad you’re working on the roommate questionnaire. I can tell you, from personal experience, that 40 minutes is doable (but just!) and exhausting. You have to get up that much earlier, may end up doing homework in the car, have to go to see your friends on weekends – it’s really at the limit of what can be sustained and it’ll require a sacrifice on your part (and your parents until you can drive. ) It can save money but if you figure out how much each week, it may not be worth it. Totally recommend you stay the boarder course!
I think I will stay a boarder. Thank you for letting me know! I do really want to have a good boarding high school experience, and not have to make it hellish by ruining my schedule with driving. Again, thanks for the advice!
When I was younger it was August 29th every year, but starting around 2015 they seemed to move up the start every year in Illinois (or at least in my county lol).
