What do you think is the best mode of transportation for a college kid?

a car? a bicycle/motorcycle? a skateboard? or no mode of transportation (by foot). i guess each of them have their problems but which is the best generally

Generally it depends entirely on the college you’re at.

I was going to bring my skateboard, but make sure you get a longboard or at least one with longboard wheels.
Bikes are pretty good too but they’re more bulky.

I guess I think walking is best. If the campus is bigger the college usually has some kind of bus system working too. I wouldn’t want to have to carry something around.

I agree with walking. If it’s a really big campus, a bike may be nice. It would probably be a pain to lock it up, though.

If you’re going to a UC, I would suggest that you purchase a bike. That’s just based off of what I’ve seen touring a couple of the campuses though.

But then again, bikes are practically banned at UCLA now, and riding off campus with a bike in LA is slightly suicidal (though I have a couple friends that really love to ride their bikes lol).

I’ve never visited UCLA so I wouldn’t know. I did visit UC Davis and UC Berkeley though, and the majority of the students that I saw there had bikes, especially at UC Davis.

i wanted a car for my birthday, but since my bike broke when i was younger my mom suggested a bike because it would be easier to get to classes next year. However, i am going to a small LAC and i don’t mind walking so i think i’ll stick to that.

It depends.

Urban campus: Public transport. Nothing is more legit than public transportation.
Small campus: Walk! It’s good for you, kids.
Bigger but contained campus: Bike. Cool vintage-y bikes look adorable and chill.

A scooter.

Well, UCLA’s an urban campus. But seeing as how any public transport options are a longer walk than campus…

rollerblades

being dropped off by your mom.
