Let’s not start the LAS conversation again.

hmm…

so any gud liberal Arts colleges ??

( u mean to take science subjects an study at Liberal Arts Colleges ??? )

@ Dark_Angel:
There isn’t any specific list of LACs in my mind. They all have their own thing going on. Maybe if you have the time, go through last year’s thread. I remember we were all talking about LACs a lot.

Yes, generally in an LAC, you would major in some science or economics, and then go to grad school for a more specific major.

@ Joiya550.
Same here man. This semester just passed by like a bullet. I’m pretty much living in my library now! Ugggh, when will this be over!?

hi, everyone I wonder you guys know of Providence College. Some said it’s generous but you have to pay more than 10k. Do you knows anyone get in with full scholarship?

@ Talha
sory yar for disappearing, was busy with SAT2
You seem to have a helluva experience in this seeing last year’s thread smirks
Well the problem is ED 2 to a . I wanna do ED 2 to a LAC but lets say if I get accepted both in ED2 n my regular decision. n my regular decision school is way better than the ED one. What options do I have for enrolling in the RD school. I know abt the Financial Aid clause **** but assuming they gimme equal financial aid. Can I wriggle myself out of my ED2?
@ echelion
thnx I thought some1 z going to shut me up on ranting about myself
N Joiyya n Talha best ov luck for ur papers.May u score a Harvard Law school worthy GPA

I still wonder how last year’s thread had so many ACTIVE members.

The thing about Last Years Thread was that there were not really a lot of active members. But whoever was a member contributed a lot, and there were some who contrbuted more than that. Thats why it kept going on. This year we have a lot of Pakistanis on College Confidential but hardly anyone bothers to come at the Pakistani Forum. In fact i am not even sure if they know there is a Pakistani thread.

So then it’s our job to let them know and make them come.

Gave my SAT 2 after screwing my SAT 1 pretty confident now
hw ur went waji ?? ?

Waisay what were your subject tests for SAT 2? and did any of you guys apply Early Decision…

@dark angel
it was NIGHTMARE. I almost fainted after doing phy section but chem was a lil better. I have to admit. Skipped 4 questions each in maths n phy.Hardly a thing I wanna recount
@ echelion
phy, chem ,maths. waisay isnt that obvious.we lakeer k fakeer Pakistanis cant think beyond this
n about ED. I was thinking about ED 2.
Plzz every1 if u can help me with the query in my previous post, it would be highly appreciated seeing our seniors are pretty busy with their exams

n where did Imransadiq n inert go?
I really hope they get in ED because they have stellar stats n seem v.nice

Thats a quite complex situation which occurs frequently when students want two things at the same time. First being the assurance of getting into a decent Liberal Arts College. Second they want to use this as a benchmark to get into even better colleges they applied to. However some have applied through early decision to the former institution and are therefore bound by the laws to attend that institution if the financial aid that they are provided with is deemed fit to cover all their expenses.
This is where the contention arises. Often the early decision colleges complain that students want to get out of the agreement anyway, so insufficient aid is just an excuse. However, i heard somewhere, that the final decision of whether the aid is enough or not remains with the student. So yes it is possible that you might be able to get out of the agreement. But this is a very tricky situation, and it gets messy sometimes. There was another thread on CC that talked about this problem, though i don’t exactly remember where it was.

@ echelion
thnx yar n enough procastrination, now, I have to start my essay. Everytime I start, I just login to CC and just surf around. BTW how are ur essays going, are u donw with them?

waji, math and physics have ridiculous curves. the percentile for an 800 in math II is only 90%, so you can afford to miss a lot of questions.

Haha, as for essays, I’d rather not think about them. I had a week off for Eid and thought I’d get pretty much everything done, but I’m not even close to being half done.

Yar i havent even finished my common app essays let alone the supplement ones…actually i was trying to concentrate on Why Yale essay for a few minutes…there was so much that i wanted to write but i was sure that millions before me would have written the same thing…so no i havent really finished my essays…infact i havenot even finished half of my essays…

@etchelion n inert101
about the essay thing, I can relate to both of u. About why yale,I had very cogent reasons for it in my mid but now that I think abt those reasons, I find them very generic, They sound like something that someone who has never even heard of yale might write.Dont worry bro, I havent even finished writing my extracurriculars N now that I think of it, I see competition as me n etchelion are both applying to same school. lol I know I can never get in but who is stopping me from trying.

Exactly. Realistic yet hopeful.

Wait, both of you are applying to Yale?

I’m applying EA there…apparently only 4 to 5 people get into Yale from this country, and I’m assuming that only 1 or 2 get in early action. That really, really sucks.

Hey there fellow Pakistanis.

I’m procrastinating so much on my essays, it’s not even funny. I haven’t written a single word yet and don’t have any idea what I should write about on my common app essay.

I’m applying to Cornell, Chicago and Vanderbilt as reaches, URochester, UVA and Boston as my low-reaches/matches and a couple of other safeties. Sometimes I feel that my list is a tad hopeful since my stats are alright but nothing excellent, and I have a D in my O’ Levels (bc pak studies).

Anyway, what do you guys think of the “Main siraf harvard priceton yale stanford oxford cambridge apply kar raha hoon kion ke agar bahir jana hai to kisi achi uni main jana chahiye” mentality common among many students these days? It annoys the hell out of me.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I’m a US Citizen :D. That fact makes a lot of fellow-applyers jealous :P
