The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2015

@speedyz, it sure as hell will work against you, and it should. what kind of school does that?. thats insane behavior!

qwerty, what do you think AP classes are like? all internal assessments are based on past papers to a certain extent. the lazy kids have terrible transcripts for a reason; they don’t rote-learn past exams.

S2Dagh is correct. The transcript is the primary piece in your academic evaluation, especially if you’re from one of the top 7-8 schools in the country. after that come SAT scores, then SAT II scores and finally your A/O level grades or predictions. talk to any admissions representative and they’ll tell you that.

and what if one does it un-intentionally like what if I took a course wanted to give my A level exam in it but after sending my application I decided not to ? … do you have to inform your college about that or what ? and for the record roots openly does it :/

Well… from what I’ve heard, some people last year slacked off completely in their A levels, to the point of not appearing for their exams. Final A Level grades do not matter at all. Only some schools actually conduct internal school exams for extra subjects.

i just lost all respect for Roots. sorry, but I had to say it.
wth is wrong with its administration?!

S2Dagh, that’s fine. I too know people who slacked off and didn’t appear for their CIE exams. but to just add courses, which you never took, to make your course-load seem more demanding is inane behaviour to say the least.

^^^ That is one of the reasons the courses taken are not a compulsory section in the commonapp. Most colleges do not even regard what’s written there.

yeah, but what if the school is like Roots, and it just adds those courses to a student’s transcript. all of a sudden that BS becomes official.
honestly, this is just pathetic.

well if roots continued to do that and foriegn universities found out about it, future students from roots can forget about studying abroad.

i still think that official CIE transcripts are compulsory. the colleges do have a look at them even if you are already admitted. and if your stats dont match then you will be in trouble, its impossible that such a thing would go unnoticed or colleges wouldnt require your official CIE results.

yep … since the school adds it to the transcript it does become official

^ just one of the many reasons pakistan is the way it is.

Official CIE transcripts are NOT compulsory. It is the duty of the school to verify the authenticity of the CIE results and the transcript which they can easily do as they have a copy themselves.

hahah yeah :D

Hi all! Hey guys I’m a long time lurker but a first time poster. (:

Adding to the discussion, the aforementioned practice is very prevalent at institutions such as Aitchison and Lahore Grammar School as well. It’s not a big deal, so just take it easy.

Where have all of you applied? I applied to all the Ivies and a bunch of other top schools. Probably straight rejections. ):

I see that there aren’t many girls around here. I feel special for being the first one to join. =D

and I know that kinda practice is very common but isnt it wrong ? and doesnt it work against you ? I think yes it does work against you like some of the other members here have explained

Guys, talking about the SAT scores, last year a student from Nepal got into Northeastern University on a full ride for Computer Engineering. He had AAe in his A Levels and his SAT was : 1630/2400!!! Now, what do you call that? I call it LUCK and RANDOMNESS of the admission process! :)

@ Speedy #337,

Where did you end up going in the end?

BTW, if Nepal has its own sub-forum, we too should have one.
