Yah speedyz, are you not in college already bhai?

@ #376, i applied to need-blind-for-internationals ivies, brown, MIT, williams, swarthmore, and amherst.

@speedyz, why are you so worried about that fake grades thingy? have you like done it or something? :p

FYI, the ‘guy’ from Roots who got into Yale SCEA is a girl. She has beastly stats though.
And yes, most of us do know that it’s not about the SAT. I was aiming that comment towards the 2016ers.
And LOL at the above discussion-cum-hatred-towards-Roots. I won’t deny that it happens, but just for the record, I didn’t write down any course apart from the ones that I actually am taking the corresponding A Level for.
And hmm I have no idea why I got deferred…maybe cause getting into Stanford is a crapshoot?

isn’t getting into all ivies, MIT, and stanford a crapshot?

^^ the girl who has a 2070 has “beastly” stats? interesting. :P

nah, we weren’t hating on Roots. try to think of it as a fun discussion to pass the time while we wait. :)

I think by beastly stats, he meant a beastly overall application which probably means 12-14As, all As in school, a couple of distinctions, perfect recommendations and a very rare talent for writing uniquely coupled with being a great sports person. Maybe headgirl or something as well. Isn’t that right freakozoid ?

Ok first of all I dont know what gave you guys that idea but I am NOT in college … but am a senior in highscool :|

and @qwerty actually some of my friends who did do it were all like you have to write a miminum of 6 or 7 courses blah blah… atleast you could have written english and those kinda things since I didnt take any so I didnt write any … so I was just trying to verify that I did the right thing
I only have 4 as of now

and I was also checking since I have dropped a course since I applied and taken up a new one… so I dont know how I should go about that? should I individually inform the colleges or what ?

and @nrmncpr
nope its the Roots MUN

^^ yeah, i know. i’m sure she’s an international olympiad gold-medalist or something of that nature/magnitude :)

I heard her English is really good… ? Like she managed to get a near perfect score in the english sections of the SAT and managed to score well in SAT 2 literature also which some people consider to be VERY difficult…

is it just me or is she starting to sound like a mythical creature ;)

well I heard a girl from roots got into Harvard with a 1920 a few years back :/

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/896071-ivy-selective-school-rd-results-2014-comparison-summary-9.html

Ok I am officially convinced now that the admission process is totally random :/

I have always believed that admission to a US university is the most random thing one will ever see. There are lots of people like that guy who went to Northeastern. I wish I could make a list of those people and post it in here! :)

I was just checking out the Cornell decisions thread and a guy with 1790 got accepted another with a superscore of 1990 got accepted while several of the 2300+ peeps got waitlisted or rejected O_o

From my experience, SAT scores dont matter as much as people think they do. What matters more are your overall achievements. Someone who has been recognised at the international level has a more attractive profile than someone with outstanding scores but no significant achievements. I had a perfect CR score and a close to perfect SAT2 lit score. Closest I got to the Ivys was a waitlist at Yale. My friend, on the other hand, who had figured prominently in regional chess championships but had a relatively mediocre SAT score got a full ride at Yale. SAT scores don’t correlate that well with performance in college anyway.

Any one of you applied to McGill, by any chance?

^^ um, there’s no such thing as a “full-ride” at Ivies. you get what you NEED. some of us, despite being citizens, don’t need aid. just because he/she (i’m being more cautious this time) got aid, it doesn’t mean it was more significant than admission w/out aid.

now, back to the (rather useless) topic of SAT scores. but first, does your ‘friend’ happen to have the initials SG by any chance?

^^ not me. i’m eligible for in-state tuition at UMichigan, so applying to canadian schools doesn’t make sense for me. although, some of them i have to say, are very attractive bargains.

You got his initials right. I am curious as to how you know that. As to whether all aid at the Ivys is need-based, I am not so sure about that.

^Isn’t UMich like AWESOME?? You wanna go for engineering, right?(Just a wild guess…Every Asian wants to go for Engineering!)
