Well that depends…I mean u should be honest when it comes to paying for the university…If u can pay full u should pay and let that money go to someone really deserving…I mean if u live in a 3 crore home and say I can’t pay LUMS it is unjust to others who desrve aid…Yes it gives partial fin aid ranging from 20% to 100% so u can always try ur luck…and then LUMS announces its admission results way before NUST…

Gentlemen,

I am Pakistani by blood, and am interested in working in Pakistan. Any advice?

Are US authorities skill issuing student visas to Pakistani students as freely as pre-terror days?

Yes, I don’t think we have many problems, except maybe for people who are going to community colleges.

Hi Everybody.
I’m from the FSc stream (unfortunately). I’d really help if you guys help me out here. Do US universities recognize the Intermediate system? I mean with competitive SAT scores among the applicants, will the FSc be a disadvantage? As in, I know I won’t have any choice but to submit the transcripts but I’m yet to know of anyone who got into any US college from Intermediate board. Help me out please. Recommend, if you can, some colleges for me to apply to. My stats are:
SAT I 2250 (Math 700, CR 770, Writing 780)
SAT II Phy 680 Math I 700
80% marks (A-one grade) in FSc pre-engg if that counts towards anything. I’d be among the top 3% in Karachi but I guess US colleges don’t do percentile systems for us.
No significant ECs. Soccer champ, A few articles in Dawn.
I do have a gold medal and a silver medal for my 10th and 9th grades respectively. And an academic distinction award by the government. But that was like in 8th grade.
I’d appreciate help.

Eid Mubarak to all of you from India!
(I’m not Pakistani. But I love your customs and traditions!)

Thank you perfectpixie! It seems we need international help to keep this thread going.
Where are you in the app process? I assume you are class of 2015?

Hi intemister!
India’s hardly international, haha.
I’ve applied SCEA to Yale and after that I was so pleased with myself that I haven’t progressed much in my other apps at all! In other words, they’re coming along real slowly.
How about you?

Wow, stanford and yale? ED/EA? nice. Well, you can’t be slower than me, hav’nt even written commonapp essay. Ohh geezz.
NU, Coloumbia (they e-mailed me saying I am competative for admission),Macalestar, Amherst and some safeties…

Oh, sorry, just Yale.

Macalaster is a good school. It’s too cold for me though otherwise I would have definitely applied there as it would have been more of a match/safety for me.
Columbia emails everyone, haha.
Are you looking at LAC’s then?

Yes. LACs, I like macalestar , but mainly because of their generous aid policy. What did you get on the SAT?

Anyone? Anything?

I got a 2110. Yeah, not great I know.
I’m retaking in Dec so lets see how that goes.
How about you intemister?
Maybe you should research Mac a bit more. It’s a very good school with very generous fin. aid policy for internationals. The resources and teaching there are excellent! You might just like it for more than its fin. aid.
Bdw, Northwestern(I’m assuming you mean that by NU), is very stingy with aid.

@ hassan
yes, US colleges are as unfamiliar with A LEVELS as they are with intermediate board so i dont think that can stop you from getting admision into top US colleges IF you can get 750+ in atleast 3 subject test (math 2 is prefered over math 1) psysics curve is very generous 680 in NOT a impressive score i am also from fsc:D i was in top 1% in karachi my scores are 780 math 2 and 800 lit got 1670 on sat reasoning (NOV 2010) :@ RETAKE:@ oh yeah uc’s does except hssc check it out on their website.YOUR SAT REASONING SCORES ARE IMPRESSIVE !

Thank you essar123
I don’t really plan to apply to the super-selective colleges. I’m a permanent resident so that might help a bit. I was interested in Lafayette and Texas A&M. IDK if they require the subject scores.
Your subject scores are epic!
And i didn’t prepare for the subject tests, so maybe I can do better.

got 800s in math2, chem, phys
have to retake SAT1 in dec
( 2120 in oct)
best of luck evry1

Bump. bumpity bump.

So where is everyone applying to?

Bump.
Deferred by Stanford.
