Speaking of people we hate. I kinda hate the little kids who bump into your legs in breaks. And then they are like ‘sorry uncle’…

^ lol, that doesn’t happen at my school. it’s all A levels.

interesting news for all who will be applying next year:

[College Inc. - Harvard, Princeton return to early admission](http://voices.washingtonpost.com/college-inc/2011/02/harvard_returns_to_early_actio.html)

Actually i regret taking two subjects in A level, GP and Thinking Skills. Both are absolute crap and they really dont help you learn anything :(. My O level english teacher who teaches us gp and ts exaggerated the importance of these two subjects a lot by saying that these kind of subjects give the diversity in curriculum which univs look for. I should have taken eco or business instead. I was just fascinated by the name Thinking Skills :P

Did anyone apply ED?

i took all the a levels my school didn’t let me take, like physics and further mathematics, as uni courses last summer. :D

obviously, they were way different (multi-variable calculus only covers so much and first-year physics is a joke), but satisfying nonetheless. :)

yup i did, to brown.

nope, didn’t do ED.

EA: UMich LSA

i sooo wish i had applied early to yale or stanford!
And pakipower, what summer program?

^ pre-college summer program for high school students. at a non-ivy, but similarly-ranked school.

^woww that would really add to your application!

i think i have more posts on this thread than anyone else… :/

is that a fail or a win?

^^ not really. there were too many people from all over. and it’s not really competitive. all you do is apply and pay. the experience is fun though.

so, if you guys were to get into an ivy, would you tell everyone at your school immediately? or would you keep it to yourself, your closest friends and your counselor until the summer?

oh, and what do you do when annoying people keep asking where you’ve applied? it’s so annoying, and i always go like, “dude, i’ve barely ever spoken to you!” lol. and yet, everyone’s curious to know.

Summer programs dont really add much to application worth, I believe. Its just a matter of affording unless you talk about summer programs like MIT’s RSI or Caltech/MIT’s SSP. These programs are funded entirely by these institution and have similar application procedure like collegeapps. I read that most of the alumni of these summer schools usually get admission in MIT and Caltech. These are very competitive programs as RSi takes only 80 students from all over the world. I tried to apply for RSI but I got a reply “sorry we do not have sponsors for students from Pakistan”. I said if I finance myself but still they replied a blank “sorry no” without any reason. Racist bastards!

Well since last year I have kept all my achievements to me and my close friends, chahey sat scores houn ya university offers. I have realized that people who call me nerd/bookworm are not worth sharing me achievements. This goes for Ivies/Mit as well, if i get in i will tell only few close friends about it.

^ i’m sure they aren’t racists.

speaking of ‘tech schools’, i always feel uneasy with MIT. i mean which school, in this day and age, has quotas?!! plus, they’re the only school who DENY favoring certain minorities and a gender, even when it’s painfully obvious. poor PR or just sheer incompetence?

im gonna tell nobody if i get admitted, or maybe put the admission letter up as my facebook status.

pakipower dont all schools have quotas. in ivies every year they admit like 9% of international applicants. there’s no way U.S applicants are so much better than international applicants. its just that it’s their country and they will favour their students. even though ivies say that they love diversity and blah blah, they keep diversity to a minumum. they just want a little bit of other cultures for the sake of U.S students or maybe to boast off about it.

i would just ignore those random people (especially idiotic prefects who barely even got a 2000, but think they’ll get admitted everywhere based on their grades and prefectorial status lol) until november, but after that i lost my patience.

i mean, these people have screwed me over, talked behind my back and others have just never bothered to talk to anyone outside their circle, but all of a sudden everyone thinks they have a right to know your grades, your SAT scores and just about everything about your application. these days, i just tell them to **** off if they ask me. just two months left till we graduate anyways. :)
