The official Pakistani Thread for the class of 2016

Anyone taking the ACT on December 10th?

I missed the regular registration deadline and am now forced to test as a standby. Should I be worried? I swear, I’m just going to camp outside the Test center and force them to let me take the test.

Thank God. The SAT Subject Test results are finally here. Self reported them to Harvard. Btw is anyone else here applying SCEA to Harvard and if you are did you get an interview or not? How did everyone else fare in SAT II.

Math 1-800
Math 2-800
Physics-780

@InVeritas
Are you the guy from the NMO camp?

Yeah I’m in the NSTC/NMO camp.

@InVeritas:

Seems that I beat you in the SAT 2’s. :stuck_out_tongue: Got 800’s in both Math 2 and Physics.

But still good job!!!

I have my SAT 1 tomorrow, so let’s see how I measure up against you in that.

Oh and good luck to you for the NSTC/NMO competition thing that you are doing.

Eh 20 marks. Still good luck for SAT. Thanks.

Since you guys, unlike me, probably have good counselors, can you clarify a few things for me? Please!

What documents have you (or rather your counselor) uploaded in the school report? Both CIE certificates and school transcripts?

Did you upload attested copies of your certificates?

Did you upload transcripts of grades 9-11? What did it look like i.e. was it all on one page or different pages for different grades?

Also: how have you requested fee waivers?

^ Same questions as above.

I’m from Choueifat. We don’t have great counselors either. Rather than uploading anything we had to post it and we don’t get any fee waivers either. But the documents we sent included certificates, a transcript showing all the grades on one page and all the exam certificates such as CIE etc…

the original certificates?

btw anyone here applying to any of the Canadian Universities?

Photocopies.

Attested?

10char

Yes, attested and signed.

Guys, help me out here.
I called Collegeboard to ask when the Nov 19th SAT I score was coming out. They said December 15th. =/ My ED decision from Upenn comes on the 9th of December. So technically, this SAT I is wasted when it comes to Upenn? =(

Collegeboard has really messed up this one. They said specifically in the email that informed us about the postponement to Nov 19th that the university application process will not be affected.

@dwarvensniper- did you contact Upenn in this regard? This delay’s not your fault, so I’m sure they’ll help you figure this out, esp since there must be other students caught up in the same mess too. Contacting the CollegeBoard in this regard is pretty pointless in my opinion, just contact Upenn, maybe they’ll defer ur decision? :S

@ the others, I have a question myself- I sent requests for fee waivers to the unis I’m applying to, however, none of them replied- is that normal? :S Anybody here applying for fee waivers?

yeah im confused about fee waivers too :S

leo118, My situation is such that I already have given the SAT I previously and my SAT Subject Tests and both of these pieces of information I had sent to Penn at the time of submission of my application. The Penn office told me that because my application is complete, it has already been reviewed and bla bla and a decision will be made based on whatever information they already have. He told me that if my application was incomplete or If I had expressed earlier that I want to switch to the regular pool they would have deferred me but now that its only 3 days before decision comes out, Penn wont be able to accomodate. “I understand this is an unfortunate situation but we will just have to go with what we have now…” This is what he said. I tried googling this ****. I ended up on Columbia’s page. This is what it said :

“The November test date has in several countries been moved from November 5 to November 19 to accommodate the Muslim observance of Eid Al Adha. Early Decision candidates to Columbia who are affected by this change should be especially careful to have scores reported to Columbia using code 2116, but under the circumstances we regretfully cannot count on having the November 19th testing for affected candidates in hand before all Early Decision assessments must be completed”

So it seems as if none of the universities are actually giving a **** to this problem. What do you guys think? Is the game over for me or is there something I can still do?

@ dwarvensniper- I’m afraid there’s nothing you can do about the Penn app now, but if I were you, I would def call or mail the College Board and give them a piece of my mind on this  A friend of mine gave the SAT II Subject Tests on Nov 19 and got her score within days.
Even if Penn’s your dream school, I’d like to suggest you consider applying RD somewhere else now, some other Ivy League one perhaps?

@ Glaedr- I’ve emailed the unis asking them about this- but have received no reply yet. I guess since admissions season is on full blow now , they must be literally bombarded with mails :/

However, if you’ve already sent your request, I suggest don’t fret over it much now and try to send in at least the Common App fast. That’s cuz when I first inquired at Princeton regarding these fee waivers, they said that we can send them in any time, along with or prior to our applications.

Anyone else got something to say on this tho? Or maybe Glaedr, we should ask on another forum :S
