^ I got alot of Kangaroo stuff, like 3 of them, but my ranks were all like 30s-40s in the country so i didnt mention any of them on my app

PSAT score came in today. S made a 99 percentile rank. Historically, good enough to be designated a National semifinalist/ Scholar.

Oh, Congratulations Perazziman :)

Thanks UT. He scored M 69, CR 74, W 76= total 219 on the National Merit Exam. As a semifinalist he should qualify for all tuition, housing and food, paid for four years, at a host of tier one, national level research universities. The National Merit Exam is also suppose to be a good predictor of how he should do on the SAT in senior year. So, everything seems to be coming together well for him. It is a big relief as a parent.

RPI is an excellent school with a fine nationally recognized name, located in upstate NY. It is considered at par with a CMU or a Georgia Tech. RPI kids often get admitted to MIT graduate school.

Assalamu Alaikum everyone,
I’m new to this forum so I guess I should make a formal introduction.
In my O-level, I’ve got 4 A*'s(Math, Physics, Chem, Computer Std), 3 A’s (English, Urdu, Pak Studies) and one B in Islamiat.
In AS level, I got 3 A’s in Math, Phy, Chem and an A in composite Applied ICT.
I gave SAT 1 this dec and got 1890 on my first attempt (CR:600 W:600 M:690)
I plan to give my SAT-2 in january.
I’m good student, but obviously not the best. I’ve never been first in class. However i still have hope this year.
And Yeah my EC’s are not too great either. I’ve been to some MUNs and won awards. I will be also chairing an MUN this Febuaurary. I’ve been to Lums Psifi. Tutored Applied ICT to two students. I play alot of sports. football, rugby, table tennis etc. I’ve participated in few EC’s but really enjoy myself participating. Plus i’m a student council member at my school
Btw Love to read and write. I blog aswell. I’m a big geek when it comes to history and international affairs.
I wanna try my luck in applying foreign unis. Though I dont think my family will be able to financialy support, i still got hope.
I just want to do my best. Even if i dont make it doesn’t matter, cuz there’s always grad school or further studies. Doing your best matters, not winning or losing.

One question: What are my chances at georgia tech?

@ IbnSina
Your SAT score might be too low, considering Georgia Tech’s SAT range: 1940 - 2160, especially if you are asking for aid.
btw, Georgia Tech doesnt care about SAT-2s…
Also, deadline’s gone so I presu,ed you already applied! Good luck.

@perazziman
You’re living in US right? I dont think any of that applies in Pakistan

any one here who has her mit EC ms.Mubarik Imam. She is my EC.i have mailed her several times for my interview but haven’t got a reply Yet.the deadline has passed but still i want to schedule my interview.any one who has her contact no.??? what should i do now??

bluelovexD

It applies to the limited extent that the National Merit Exam is offered at the American Schools in Pakistan; and children of Pakistani Americans, studying in Pakistan can take advantage of this opportunity.

@Chuckbass, Rennselear Polytechnic Institute is great, but I just want to let you know, they send those emails to everyone. I also get them. And I asked a couple of friends that they too got them. I do not discourage you to apply, but it hardly has any financial aid/scolarship for international students, and if your willing to pay full fee, you might just get into better institute than RPI.

@IbnSina, you’re chances aren’t too good, at georgia tech. The SAT score downplays on all your achievements, also georgia tech is very reserved abt giving financial aid/scolarship to international students.

Georgia Tech is not reserved it does NOT give ANY sort of financial aid to international students…

What schools are you guys at?

I thought Pakistanis here were active… this thread is dead

well umm, I dont know about rest of the people, but I was stuck with my exams in the last couple of days. :/

so where did you all apply ? I just applied to a few top ones…

Where is everybody?? Any non-US acceptances yet?

Anyone coming to KCL, London?

If yes, holla at me.

ive heard that some guy from aitchison has been accepted at cambridge

^From what I saw on FB, 2 people from Roots also got into Cambridge.
Also 1 in Oxford from Roots
And in US (all with full aid):
1 Dartmouth
1 NYU Abu Dhabi
1 Bates
1 Luther
