distinctions… interview calls… damn you guys make me seem very below-average

^ interview calls aren’t much of a big deal, more like standard admission procedure.

well then I guess my application wasnt standard :P

JUST GOT AN OFFER FOR INTERVIEW FROM PRINCETON! XD Don’t care that about 95% of the applicants (as per my interviewer) get this offer, but it still feels extraordinary to me! Esp since I had such good fun in my Harvard interview…

@ Shahan- LCAT? What’s that? hahaha XD I know the absolute minimum about US high school education and board exams- just enough to fill out my application and really badly want to attend the schools I’ve applied to, LOL!

@ Titan- ROFL…now that’s a real laugh. I read this thread and wonder every time why I even applied when there are clearly better qualified people who deserve to go. So, don’t beat yourself up with negative thoughts…that’s just the best and worst things about applying to top-tier schools- even a world distinction can’t guarantee your admission, simply because it cannot determine who you are =D

@Shahan03 and JockingMay: and 1 Stanford.
and quite a large number of offers from LSE Imperial UCL and stuff.

@Shahan03: Well alot of these schools are either affiliated to Judaism or Christianity, and may require a lot of religious requirements, such as required classes, chapel attendance, and moral requirements, that would probably be problematic for someone from another faith.

And you need to consider Islamophobia… It might be higher in some Christian sects.

@leo118 CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCKK.
My best friend had hers yesterday and it went really well. Hope yours do too
When’s it?

Also the LCAT is the LUMS entrance test

@Hassaniman: 2275 on the SAT? That’s not even possible! I smell something fishy!

^ I was just going to point that out myself. Lol.

■■■■■ alert!

@Shahan- interview’s tom! Will let you guys know how it goes =)

BTW, general query- do internationals get likely letters?

Everybody seems to be talking about them on the Ivy forums, so its my new daydream to get one :P

Shahan: As far as BYU is concerned, it provides a good education at a cheap price, but the cost can be higher for non LDS. For one, tution rates for non LDS are higher. Also, the university has been becoming less tolerant of non LDS, for example, by forcing non LDS to take the same classes on mormonism as the LDS students:

[BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY (BYU) book of mormon course](BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY (BYU) book of mormon course)

In a lot of ways, the LDS culture is like Muslim culture, in that it’s followers do not consume alcohol and pork. They have strict decency dress codes and rules against sex outside of marriage etc. However, anyone who has lived in the USA also knows they actively and openly preach and try to convert. They ride around on bicycles all over America, wearing white shirts and black pants knocking on doors and trying to spread their religion. I would say, they are like the tablighi jamaat of Christianity. This can be fun if you like discussions on religion. A lot of Americans will slam the door on their faces. However, giving them the power to grade you in college on knowledge of their faith is certainly not my idea of fun or an education.
