you did it the wrong way chinnu.

the ratio of students to adults was 1:4
students were 480 and the adults were 4x more

add them

you did it the wrong way chinnu.

the ratio of students to adults was 1:4
students were 480 and the adults were 4x more

add them

um...first of all, it was a 4:1 ratio, and the number, 480, corresponded with the "1" part of the 4:1 ratio, so the other part was 480x4=1920? i think, 480+1920=2400

ratio of kids to parents is 1:4, 480 is number of children, so multiply by 5 and you get 2400

number 1 does not have to be 11, i think 12 worked also in fact it think the answer is 11 or 12 (4n<50 5n>50)

did anybody get 30 for the question about paint cans (or something) in summer and winter?

also for the question with square and rectangle, was the area x^2 + xy? i put it down after 4 seconds without really thinking

oh ok
thanx for confirming that

number 1 was: 4x is less than 50, 5x is larger than 50. Anything 10<x<12.5 works

You mean washer fluid? It was a 1:3 ratio in summer, a 2:1 ratio in winter.
There were 24 ounces, so 6 was washer fluid. There are 18 ounces of water. So you need to add 30 ounces to get a 36:18 ratio.

yes it was x^2 + xy

yes snipez90, the answer was 30

Cory is correct.

1 Child:4 Adults
480 Children:X Adults

so basically ... 5x480 to get the total number of people. which is what they asked for

edit: and yah snipez its x^2 + xy

Yea, I got 12 as well

snipez, i think it was X^2 + xy... for the square+rectangle

and 30 for the washer fluid

OH YEAH THAT QUESTION CONFUSED ME SO MUCH

i ended up putting E) 48

for the XY digits problem the one with X and Y both being integers
did you get

3(X+Y) = 10(x) + Y?

you guys got 32 for the area of that square inscribed in the circle??

edit: ye classof08, that's the correct answer

class of 08- yes

cory- yes

here is a couple more i remember
3(X+Y)= 10X +Y
Surface Area was 10 for two cubes put together
x^2+xy

i got that, 08, 3(x+y) = 10x +y...
I got 32 i think for the square in the circle
10 SurfaceArea

sweet :)

ye, still haven't discovered any "stupid mistakes" yet...80 looks possible! =D

Last problem ... Some choices were X = -y, X = y, X^2 = Y^2

thats all i remember. what was the answer? I put x = -y because it worked both ways

(X + Y)(X^2 - Y^2)

Was the question

Yes! I haven't gotten any wrong so far.... What did you put for the CR question about the uncle telling whoever to do bussiness was his tone of voice surly or wry?

will the curve for math be hard? every1 seems to be doing well
