@RHSclassof16 please :slight_smile:

Ok just so you guys know I shouldn’t be the only one chancing people in this thread. But I’ll do @thejappster because he requested. But seriously other people should be contributing.

It’s really hard for me to say with confidence because you only provided me with your UW GPA’s and not your weighted UC GPA’s but I’m just going to guesstimate what you would be based off of those GPA’s and your ACT Score/SAT Subject test score.

UCB/UCLA-Reach
UCSD-High Match
UCI/UCD/UCSB-Match

Thanks! @RHSclassof16 UC Weighted GPA is 4.09

And haha other people should be chancing us poor seniors :frowning:

@thejappster Then I stand by my original chances for you if that’s your UC GPA.

International from New Zealand applying to UCSD, UCLA and UCB as a maths/physics major. Thanks in advance  !

SAT I: 2080, 650/750/680 (CR/M/W)
SAT II: Math 2 (760), Physics (730), Chemistry (720)
UW GPA: 3.88, 3.92 projected
AP: None. AP coures aren’t offered.

Taekwondo (12)
Model UN (12)
Two choirs (10, 11, 12)

Student Librarian (12)
Paid Maths Tutor (12)

Volunteer Work (~420 hours):
Peer Support Leader
Part of a program for helping students with additional needs. Involved tutoring an under-performing 8th grade English class and mentoring a disabled 8th grade student (our high schools encompass 8th-12th grade in case that aroused any confusion).
Various volunteering for Scouts. Helped run an activity base for 3 weeks at the last scout jamboree. Other community fundraising activities.

Several school-level academic awards, nothing outstanding
A couple of awards in math and informatics olympiad styled competitions

Income bracket: <$70k
My English teacher and I were both pretty happy with my essays.

@Ihazmuffin Considering your achievements, my friend. You are very likely to be accepted into UCSD, the least. I am not quite sure about UCLA and UCB as those two school can choose student with scores lower than yours and deny students with scores higher than yours. I think you should focus on your essay as your achievements are highly noticeable.

I have a 2 - day suspension in 10th grade because I spilled juice on my friend, and someone reported it as bullying
I explained how I was immature and I disciplined myself a lot, and made an Anti-Bullying Club etc…and how the kid is a great friend of mine.

What do you think? will my cumulative hold me back?(FRESHMAN GRADES were 3.1)but I had A’s throughout the rest except for 2 B’s semester 1 sophomore year.

My UC gpa’s are really good I think, and I hope it is enough for my freshman mess plus my good SAT’s
just stressed…

Okay so I am a community college student curious if I have a chance to get into UCI

In Oct of 2015 I applied to only Cal States (Long Beach accepted, Fullerton waiting, CPP accepted, Northridge waiting, SDSU waiting, and San Bernardino accepted) and I regret not applying to UC’s. Just yesterday I was thinking about what if I can go to UCI and stay another year at my community college to try to get into UCI. I only need Calc 1, Calc 2, and a language. By the end of Spring 2016 it will be four years at community college, is it worth it if I stay another year a total of five years at community college to see if I get accepted to UCI? also I would definitely have to take out a loan. I would get financial aid but only about $6K i believe, so is spending more money/getting loans worth going to UCI? or since I already got accepted to a few Cal States should I just sick to that and attend a Cal State this Fall 2016 ?

These are my stats:
GPA: 3.3678 (if i take the three classes more it will go up to 3.5 or so)
TAG: I would apply it if my application gets approved
Major: Business Marketing
done with general ed and pre-reqs
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Lives: SoCal near riverside
no extracurricular activities but could start volunteering starting this month

please remember I am a transfer student so I am already in college
There are different expectations for HS and transfer students from what I see HS students need higher GPA’s and a lot more extracurricular’s than transfer students

Thanx !

Hi! I was wondering if anyone could chance me for UCSD, UCLA, and UCB? I’ve already been accepted to UCI (CPH) and have received an invitation to the chancellor’s ceremony for UCSB, so I suppose I’m in for those two. I’ve also received acceptances to CSULB, CSUF, and Cal Poly SLO (ind. engineering LOL). Pretty sure UCLA and UCB are reaches, but I’m hoping that UCSD is a high match. What do you guys think? Thanks.

Essays: Honestly I am a bit disappointed about my essays. They’re not bad… but I can think of so many ways to improve them. I don’t believe I did a good job of displaying me as a person, and it’s completely my fault for not spending more time on them. I wrote about how I developed an interest in international studies through my culturally diverse community and how my interest had conflicted with the less-than-diverse expectations and career paths that I was encouraged to pursue by those around me… Yeah, a bit mediocre and cliche. The other was about how I’ve dealt and grown after my dad’s recent absence (he was a domineering and restraining force in my life, often barring/discouraging me from engaging in activities beyond academics due to reasons I will not state) and the things that I’ve learned and were able to do. 6/10

Wrote the first one about a traumatic experience that happened in my family (kind of too personal to share here) and how it taught me the true meaning of “typical”. 2nd one was about my volunteer work with children with autism (sibling of a child with autism) and a research project I conducted for IB on it.

Thanks! Best of luck to everyone!!

Harvard Prize Book Award, Commended Student (College Board), and a few other local awards

Did a computer science/cyber security related internship for the government over the summer.

I experienced education barriers:
My school is made up of several magnet programs; I was put into the Humanities program, making it hard for me to take anything related to the STEM field (especially computer science classes). I have written one of my essays on how I strove to overcome this barrier.

UC Berkeley: Computer Science (Letters and Sciences)
UCLA: Computer Science

Applying to:

UCB (Engineering math/stats)
UCSC (computer engineering)

I’m also thinking about UCLA and UCSD. But I don’t want to waste money for rejection letters.

CCC to UC transfer
UC Transferable GPA: 3.68/4.0
ECs: 10/10 I don’t want to list them for privacy sake but they are perfect.
Personal Statement: 10/10 Same as ECs. Privacy reasons.

I had a grade dip during a semester due to family circumstances which is what brought my GPA down to that level. I’ve explained it in my application. Is my GPA a death sentence? Should I just give up on Berkeley all together?
