Yeah, I believe you’re right. I think you got this in the bag!

Yeah, I believe you’re right. I think you got this in the bag!

materials science and bioengineering joint major (for Berkeley), GPA (when applying): 4.00, GPA now (after winter quarter, not reported on the application): 3.99, current campus, UC Riverside , reason for UC Riverside: Pre-med, reason for transferring, a friend told me so I may grow up

I didn’t mention the reason for transferring on my application…for I don’t have a good reason…

@Cayton I hope you’re right! Thanks for the feedback Is it a bad sign if I didn’t receive the same leadership scholarship offer as @helloitstimtim ??? Did you?

@helloitstimtim Hope it works out for the both of us! :)

@smashley93

I didn’t get that scholarship invitation, so you’re not alone. I wouldn’t say that it’s a bad sign; such offers are often subjective and aren’t supposed to be signs of early admission to Berkeley. I wouldn’t look too much into it. :)

haha…either way is fine for me, UC Riverside remains a good choice! Hope the best for you!

berkeley should release decisions on the same day UCD and UCLA release their decisions! I just want to get this over with, and stop being so anxious haha.

@ucastell

Can’t agree with you more on that. 4/25 just seems so far away… and literally a day feels like a week.

@bluebottle, Haha I know, I can’t wait! but hey at least we have less than a week haha.

@ucastell

Hey, if you get accepted to UCLA today, you’ll always have a back-up school in case Berkeley denies you. But I doubt they’ll reject you. ;)

@Cayton, thank you! I hope you get into both schools as well :)

@ucastell

Yeah, but if I get accepted by UCLA today, I’m going to SIR with them immediately. :P

@Cayton, you should wait a little bit what if UCB offers you more money?

@ucastell

Hmm, that is a valid point, but I’m willing to bet Berkeley and LA will offer me the same amount. If not, I can always cancel my SIR with UCLA.

@Cayton

Absolutely no chance of choosing Berkeley if you get admitted there also? What’s the reason for your strong UCLA preference?

last year when I was accepted to Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD, UCLA gave me the most generous amount than Berkeley and SD lol but not too much different I think UCLA gave me about 17K Berkeley 16K and SD 15K. But yeahhh UCLA is pretty generous when it comes to financial aid I think lol

@music1990

I wouldn’t say there’s no chance, but it’s 80/20 in UCLA’s favor.

My reasoning is that I want to stay close to home and that UCLA’s philosophy program is fantastic(It’s actually better ranked than Berkeley’s). Their classes also seem more interesting and the campus seems to have a more “fun” vibe than Cal’s.

And I set my sights on getting into UCLA a long time ago, before I began community college. I had just gotten out of high school and my performance was awful(The primary reason I’m in community college now, lol) and I promised myself that I would do better in college. My high school GPA was about 2.1~2.2 by the time I graduated, so I clearly wasn’t going to go to any university straight out of high school.

So I enrolled at Santa Monica College and decided to set my sights high and aim for UCLA(I didn’t know much about Berkeley at the time. I actually thought UCLA was the most prestigious school among the UCs, lol). So yeah, I intend to see it through. :D

@Cayton

Oh for sure that makes sense. I’m not like someone who thinks cal is better or anything. I think most people just tend to grow up identifying with one or the other, and that’s the one they usually end up choosing. I would have applied to UCLA also, but their music program only accepts like 17 students a year and you have to audition and and make a portfolio and I’m not that great at performing so I didn’t even bother.

@music1990

Yeah, I get you.

Is Berkeley’s music program more theory-based?
