I’m sorry, that’s rough. I think you have a really good shot at Cal though. Plenty of people get rejected at UCLA and and accepted at Cal. Don’t lose hope! Whatever happens is meant to be.

@music1990
Thank you again, I feel little better now

@Couldbeit

Good, try not to be too down. It’s not in your hands. I’m in the same position as you, because I didn’t even apply to UCLA. Everything rests on Berkeley. So I know kind of how you feel.

@music1990
May I ask your major and GPA?

@Couldbeit

Music, 4.0. I’m sure it’s easier to get good grades in music than it is in math and science fields though.

I’m not really going to school for job prospects like most people are. I’m more going just to learn about something that I love, like music. If I was going to college to get a good job, I would probably choose a more practical field.

@music1990
jealous you. You have a hobby and have a chance to achieve your dream. I am a Chinese, as you know, many chinese people only care about the rank of the school, include my friends and me.

@Couldbeit

Thanks, but it has its downsides also. Like it will be harder for me to get a steady job. People in math and science fields don’t have much of a problem getting work. It’s pretty risky to pursue a career in a “soft” field like music or art or something. Honestly, I just didn’t have it in me to try to succeed in a STEM field.

So are you from China then? How long have you lived here? Did you apply to any schools other than Cal and UCLA?

@Ocnative, Thanks bud I’m really happy, so happy I can’t believe I just got into 3/4 schools I applied to, and I’m now waiting on UCB :). I’m still going to be sad if I don’t get into UCB, but UCLA is also an amazing school, so I can’t go wrong either way :). Congratulations to you too!!

@music1990 creative fields, such as film and music, usually have lower average GPAs due to their creative process, so you with a 4.0, that’s pretty strong.

So I haven’t been around here in a few days. Is the date still set for the 25th - or is it now earlier?

@lindyk8, yeah UCB will release decisions next friday from either 3-5 pm… So nervous yet excited good luck to your daughter

Thx @ucastell, at least the main pressure is off for us. Hope so for you, too.

Did any of you here got in the Finalist of the Achievement Award (Cal Alumni Association) and did the interview on Cal Day? The lady told me that all interviewee there were accepted. I did poorly in the interview though.

Accepted by UCLA, UCSD and UC Davis already

@lindyk8
Thanks! I’m still pretty nervous though. Congratulations to your daughter! She must be so psyched

@lindyk8, that’s good to hear, I’m still a bit anxious since Berkeley releases decisions next week. I’m not nearly as anxious and nervous as I was yesterday, because if Berkeley rejects me I can always go to UCLA can’t go wrong either way

To people who got accepted to other UC, what will your reaction be if you get rejected?

I would love to get it UCB. Now that I’m UCLA, I think I would be shocked and disappointed at first (for being the 20%) , but would be over it in a matter of hours. I would probably think to myself that they saved me the trouble of deciding between the two.

Let the clock continue… 6 days 20 hours 11 minutes 30 seconds

@Loyshi

I would be really upset at first…and shocked also. I wouldn’t let it get to me though since I have UCLA as my other option now. It would be a dream to go to Cal though :-S

Guys I got rejected from UC Davis and UCSD but got into UCLA…

CSE Major 3.96 waiting on Cal…

@chaoscuber, so weird that you got rejected to Davis and SD.

I would be sad if I didn’t get into ucb, because I was rejected as an incoming freshman as well.

@randombookie yeah! I got rejected from high school as well! I got rejected from SD and Davis because SD was so impacted that I don’t even think they accepted anyone into the major and Davis because I didn’t know I was supposed to take Comm 1. I assumed that since UCB’s and UCLA’s requirements were rigorous that they would align with all the other UC’s… I was wrong hahah
