@kio3063 TBH, it is highly unlikely that admissions made a mistake. However, if they did, they should be able to fix it. But more likely than not, you may have missed a pre-req that you aren’t aware of, or you took a wrong pre-req.

Also, IMO, I think everyone should take these tricks and scholarship invites with a grain of salt. I was admitted to UCLA Friday night, and my financial aid award isn’t even available yet.

Hey everyone…mind if I chime in on the hype? I’ve been so nervous since my UCLA rejection…and I don’t think my friends and family will know he anxiety that this wait has inflicted on me. But do you think having two incomplete prereqs for chemical biol major (2 ochem) will ruin my chances?

So far here are my stats:
GPA: 3.93
Major Applied: Chemical Biology
ECs: PTK, Alzheimer’s association advocate and team leader for fundraiser walk for two years, Alzheimer’s facility volunteer (care provision), church service, biology club
Ethnicity: Asian

@kio3063 grueling week. Did you get a chance to talk to a counselor at berkeley?

@smashley93 I has completed three classes of five for pre-req. However, assist does not show any pre-req so it not necessary to complete all of those. Also, when I asked them about it, they said that previous applicants completed 3 or 4 classes. As you said, I gonna call admission to get some reasons why I got rejected and then appeal it if i get rejected from UCB.

@smashley93

I agree! Plus I rather find out the traditional way if I’m accepted or not :P

Are you leaning towards LA or still waiting out for Cal?

I haven’t received any email about scholarships.

@Kirsmm Nope. Did you? I thought that all information is in college confidential and UCB homage so I did not meet any counselor at berkeley.

@Freetofly112 hope it is not a sign …

@Loyshi as a fellow math major, I’m curious as to why you want to switch to statistics? Why not do applied math in statistics? (I’m contemplating doing applied math in probability theory, which requires 2 stats courses).

Also, do you currently have any prerequisites in progress?

And congratulations on getting in!

@ocnative I really want Cal more than anything, but they’re so unpredictable. UCLA isn’t a bad alternative, though B-) What about you?

Joining in here! :-h

got rejected from UCSC but accepted to UCSD.

Computer Science (L&S) major! …getting nervous as UCB is my top choice

@smashley93 thanks! I’m still waiting on Cal but I’m leaning towards la. But I hope I can see you!
@kio3063 in the ucla major transfer handbook though I believe it’s a requirement to take up to level 4 (4 semesters) in a foreign language for Asian studies
2 years in high school is considered 1 year in college. It fulfills igetc but not the prereq
I’ll look at the handbook when I get home

@noisnotananswer
I took discrete math as sampler to upper division. i felt it wasn’t much of much thing. As math major, finishing up Differential (and discrete which could have been taken at Cal) For stats, the only difference is no discrete for stat, which I took when i was a Biz major.

@Kirsmm dang thats a tough one… you have the better GPA for sure compared to my 3.7. Your ECs are also good seeing as how i dont have any at all except working. but TBH, and im not trying to be mean or anyway at all, but i dont think you will get in because as a chem major, the ochem series is a huge deal and if im not mistaken, i think you need both semesters (or have 1 and be taking the other now) as a requirement for admissions in general. and so based off that, i think you will be rejected sorry :(( but then again im not UCB counselor or anything so take my advice with a grain of salt

Anyone else applying to Haas?

Don’t need to apologize @bookham. You were only giving realistic advice. I did talk to one of the berkeley counselors last summer and she said that they will try accommodate people with special circumstances (our school has been having terrible budget cuts so I wasn’t able to start chem right away). I don’t know if it’ll affect the decision that I plan to take both ochem 1 & 2 in summer.

@kio3063 yep, I had to set up an appointment last summer to ask about my situation & boy was she stern…yet pleasant as time went by

@Loyshi

Hi, I have one question about the trick you’ve tried to do.
I had a calnet id made in 2yers ago. (like on may or June of 2012)
I thought that this id has been deactivated.
I am wondering if it will be still working for that trick.
When I tried to login to my berkeleyapp with the cal net id, it says the following;

Login Problem

This application was not able to get a valid STUID from CalNet directory
(It might not exist for this person or there’s an access problem).

It means that I will not get in?? or this id was already blocked so it wouldn’t let me login to bearfacts by ucb since this id was too old to be made??

Also, I tried other way to login to bearfacts.
For calnet itself, I can login. While you are still in login, you just can go to

https://bearfacts.berkeley.edu/bearfacts/

Then, I clicked the “student” tab.
It says; You are not eligible to use this system. If you think this is an error and you are a student, please call (510) -xxx-xxxx.

It means another bad sign too?

Well I am now really disappointed that I may not get in.
It’s okay your opinion will be harsh to me so just tell me about your thought.

Thanks:)

@smashley93

Same here! Cal is my first choice but UCLA will be my second if I get rejected. Were you still considering changing your major to Poli Sci?
