The Official UCB Fall of 2014 Decisions Thread

@music1990‌ have you thought of linguistics? I see music and language as very connected, plus it’s a strong major for jobs. Just throwing that out. I do believe there would be a language requirement.

@alsjfllakejfa‌
Ok thanks. I’ll for sure consider that if I’m accepted.

@lindyk8‌
Oh my goodness. That sounds pretty difficult. I was thinking maybe I would just start out with an English course or two to see if I’m able to keep up. I’ve always done well in English courses and enjoyed them, but I doubt any of my CC or HS experience compares to the Berkeley English program.

I have not yet looked into linguistics, but I’ll definitely check that out if I’m accepted. Thanks for the advice! You have definitely made me rethink this option.

@ocnative‌, thanks for the link. I remember looking at this a while back but I forgot about it.

@music1990‌ and don’t forget to check the minor option (as opposed to a double major).

Another thing @music1990, since the English dept has that “publish or perish” vibe, all the Profs have written books. Simply go in the bookstore and skim the course books. Not the actual literature, the analysis books. That’ll really give you a sense.

So what have you guys been doing to pass the time other than procrastinate?

@chaoscuber refresh cc every 5 minutes

I’m pretty nervous :</p>

@music1990‌ I actually applied to Berkeley as a Linguistics major, but that’s probably why I’m gonna end up not going to Berkeley even if I do get accepted. Lol…I dunno. It’s a huge dilemma actually. I chose Linguistics because during the application period, I was still considering it and it was the only major that I had all the prereqs done for. But now I’m more for Public Health and that’s actually impacted at Berkeley, so even if I did get accepted, I don’t know what I would do. :(

14 more days! :slight_smile: I can’t wait to be done with this semester and finally transfer haha.

I remember back in high school reading these threads and seeing how anxious previous transfers were. Well now it’s our turn :expressionless: . Good luck to everyone

I was thinking about making a thread for all the college of engineering people like someone did last year: <a href=“****** uc berkeley 2013 fall official decision for college of engineering ******* - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/1497514-uc-berkeley-2013-fall-official-decision-for-college-of-engineering-p1.html</a>
But I want to know how many EECS, mechanical engineering, math etc. etc. people we have on here so I’m not the only one posting in it :stuck_out_tongue: So would anyone else be interested in me making a thread like that? and what is your major?

@ocnative‌ Haas-ers (or whatever they call them…) are too reticent to show their faces here (except one, appearantly< :smiley: ) considering their transfer stat of 6.2%, getting in is like winning the lottery/getting into Stanford (pretty bad analogy, I realized…)
Any more Haas applicants?

@lkm291‌

Hey! How do you feel about your chances?

@lkm291 LOL Haas applicant right here!

@FinanceWiz‌ Air five!
@ocnative‌ it would be a miracle if I get in(or at least that’s how I have been convincing myself… but there is still hope right?) I don’t think my essays are good enough, no award, several jobs/internship/volunteer, decent GPA, Good completion of pre-reqs and breaths, not much in school involvements except tutoring and member of a club. SO yeah, it’s a joke for me :))

is anyone else going to CAL day tomorrow? :)

@ucastell‌
I’m going to CAL day tmr. I will probably check out my major’s department and maybe the dorms.

@Loyshi, that’s great! what’s your major? I’m going to check out labs, dorms, and find out more about research opportunities/programs for premeds.

@ucastell‌
I applied as a math major, but I’ll probably switch to statistics. I live an hour away from Bekeley.
