Hi guys, I’m new to all this. I’ve been looking at this thread and giving myself anxiety by looking at how great everyone’s GPA is. Can someone help me out?

So I’m a Hispanic Female
I’ve applied as an English major, so L&S I guess.
By the end of last Fall semester it seems I have a 3.52 GPA (which seems a lot worse now than I thought it was when I applied) but my grades have been pretty consistent except a weird drop Spring 2013 because my mom lost her job and I had to work extra hours to help us afford a place to live.
I have all of my requirements (IGETC and major) done and I’ve taken as many additional Literature classes as I can.
I haven’t done too much EC stuff but I’m part of PTK at SMC, I work two jobs each 30-35 hrs/ week, and that horrible spring semester I also had an editorial internship for 20+ hours a week. I’ve worked at least one job since I graduated from high school in 2012. I’ve been on the Dean’s Honor List every semester.
From the feedback I got I’d say my first personal statement was a 8/10 and my second one was maybe a 9/10.

So far I’ve been accepted to and have been offered scholarships from UCSC, UCI, UCD, Mills College, and USF.
Do I have a chance at all for Cal?

Thank you so much to anyone that takes the time to read this and respond.

Honestly… the UC Berkeley holistic review seems to be so intricate and complex by nature, that I think it’s a 50/50 in L&S if you’re between 3.5-4.0… I’ve just seen so many perfect applicants turned down, and lower qualified ones accepted, but also vice versa. It’s SO random, unless you really screw up.

It’s so dumb that I just noticed this thread lol

I’m excited, but I have a .000009% chance of getting in (low-ish GPA, capped major). Plus, I haven’t heard anything from my impacted major at SFSU so that makes tomorrow sort of worse.

If I get rejected from UCB AND SFSU the same day I swear I’ll eat bucket of ice cream under my covers with my phone off. :((

What if Berkeley’s holistic review is actually some crazy omniscient supernatural entity that they feed our application into… insert Keanu Reeves meme face here

“students choose their major and the major they choose informs Admissions of what College to admit them to. If admitted, it is up to the student to declare their major.” - from the UCB Admissions facebook page

If someone is accepted into School of Public Health, can they switch to College of Letters & Science in case they aren’t able to declare a PH major?

OMG It’s sooooo trueT.T
I’ve been hopeless more and more as the day will come soon.

Well, frankly, if I cannot login to myberkeleyapp with Calnet id(if I had one) at this time, it means probably I didn’t get in.right? Everyone who had the Calnet ID and also got in can login to myberkeley app now, no exceptions, right?

Maybe I should’ve prepared to get rejected for myself…If my feeling is ready to get rejected, it will be little better after I will check the bad result tomorrow.

Logging in myberkeleyapp using a calnet id and using UC application # gives me the exact screen. Only using bearfacts or Myfinaid did I see them. Are you sure you can’t access your your financial aid? I confirmed with a Berkeley Rep yesterday that seeing your financial aid = getting accepted!!!
