@Loyshi
What’s the situation with your ECs?

@ocnative
I know where you got those numbers. But having different numbers doesn’t for each department doesn’t mean they read it separately. <— i might be wrong though

@Cayton
I’m in rotarc club and I’m a reader for a math professor

Did you guys notice that in the 2013 Berkeley thread there were a lot of spring acceptances?

@ocnative
Uh-oh. I did not notice that…

Now I’m curious. If you get accepted to UCLA and accepted to Cal for spring, which would you choose? I know Berkeley is your #1 school, but being admitted for spring would kind of suck.

@ocnative yeah, it seems like Berkeley’s spring offers have been increasing over the past years. I believe 2012 had around 400 spring offers, while 2013 had around 500. Comparing those numbers to the change in fall admits from 2012 to 2013, there was a greater total increase in spring admits between the years than fall admits.

@Cayton
That would seriously suck. I think I would go with UCLA. Ain’t nobody got time to wait for next spring! Lol

@anothertransfer
That’s awful.

@ocnative @Cayton
Why would you guys have such a problem with a spring acceptance? It would just give you more time to get ready. I honestly would have no problem with that. It would be a nice little break and I could work and save up some more money. I would be all over it lol

@music1990

I guess it has to do with delaying one’s transfer for a whole semester, combined with taking longer to graduate. Some people are OK with taking it a little slower, such as yourself, and others would like to transfer in Fall. But to each their own, right?

what’s the logic behind accepting people in the spring? are there somehow less people there in the spring or something?

@RamonaFalls
Some people drop out and others graduate early

@Cayton
Oh for sure I get why it could be a hassle for some. I guess I just couldn’t imagine giving up my dream school to start a few months earlier. But you’re right everyone is different

@Loyshi, so you also went to the meeting? wow we probably saw each other there at the meeting haha… Who knows maybe we will see each other again tomorrow without realizing it haha. I hope it all works out for us and the rest of the people here :).

@Cayton, dude I think you have a great chance at Berkeley! I know of a friend who transferred last year with a 3.4-3.5 GPA and got in as a Philosopher major. He told me he chose that major because he knew they pretty much accepted more than half of their applicants for that major

@ucastell

That’s very encouraging! Thanks!

@ucastell
After going to Cal day, it only made wait for the next 13 days worst… Did you go check out MCB department?

@Loishy, I know that’s what I was afraid of!! I met friends of my friends haha, I was just amazed by the buildings their libraries, and history!. I did check out the MCB department and even the labs, the professor was pretty nice… Every single person I talked to was so nice. There was so much school spirit going on on every corner of the school! I’m in love with the school, I just hope it doesn’t break my heart haha. What about you did you like it?

@Cayton, don’t worry you got this

Hey everyone. I’m an applied math major hoping to transfer Cal. This is the most anxious 13 days of my life! Just wanted to chime in and say hi. Good luck to everyone with admissions.

@ucastell
I definitely would agree with you about the whole school spirit. I also loved the variety of food in the area… (I’m hope i don’t get fat.) I too take with my department and lucky both of the student at the table were transfer students too.

@noisnotananswer
I too also applied as a math major, but I’m leaning to switching to statistics.

@Loishy I know that’s so cool! I loved all the school spirit, food, and the whole vibe. I was so into the school spirit that I ended up buying a Berkeley sweater even though I said I wasn’t going to until after the decisions. haha

@ucastell
A sweater? Isn’t it a bit hot during this time of year? I already have a few gears prepared for my parents if i get in. IF i don’t, I’m burning them and leaving no evidence behind and gp cry in a corner. :((

@loyshi, haha, no it was actually kind of cold today! that’s one of the reasons I love cal is because it’s always cold at least in the morning! Don’t worry you should be fine
