*The official UCLA 4.0 (or 3.5+) rejects thread*

you guys gotta realize Cal and UCLA admissions have no correlation to one another.
People get into LA and get rejected from Cal. People get rejected from LA and get into Cal. And those who are lucky enough get into both.

You also have to realize that this years applicant pool was so much higher than last years. If i recall, they only have 3200 spots for a pool of 19000 this year. Thats a 16.8 acceptance rate.
Last year was a 32.64 percent acceptance rate with 5457 people admitted with only 16,800 people applying. Basically, the acceptance rate was cut by half this year. Had you applied last year, your chances woulda been much better

Theres simply too much competition out there. The path from CC to University isnt necessarily easy anymore (especially with the state that California is in now).

My advice is to go where you’ve been accepted into because in the coming years its only gonna get harder to get in now that more and more people are starting to realize that it is possible to transfer from CC to UC’s

^Holy crap! I had no clue the rates had decreased that much! Yeah…Cal just seems that much farther now…great.

On another note, I called UCLA admissions today. After 20 min on hold and finally getting past the music to an actual ringtone…THEY HUNG UP ON ME! If I didn’t hate the school before I definitely do NOW! gees…

@shana…I was thinking about what you said and although I KNOW they technically have no relation with each other it still gives you an idea of what to expect. Yes, they are separate universities, but MANY of their prereq’s and standards are the same. If one doesn’t want you, for whatever reason, it’s only logical to think the other will also find that same flaw and reject because of it. Furthermore, since Cal is “supposedly” harder than UCLA, getting rejected there is a real blow to anyone’s moral. It really dampens hope, or atleast, it did mine…

Major: Bus Econ
GPA: 3.69
Pre reqs: Will be done this semester that were offered by my CCC.
IGETC: Done
TAP: No
ECs: Took many classes while in Marines. Few afterwards.

Waiting on Cal, UCI, and USC for Bus Admin… doubt I’ll get into any this year… oh well… maybe I’ll go be a garbage man -.-'

@shanahanyang- They actually added 500 transfer spots UC-wide. They significantly decreased freshmen admissions. Of course, more are applying so we’re not necessarily in a better situation now than in previous years.

@dejected…aww man…cheer up! UCLA is not the end of the world…that’s what I keep on telling myself :D

@ nicolles: Don’t worry…You and I are going to Berkeley! lol. :). So I hope.

shanahanyang, just because there are 3200 spots doesn’t mean they only accept 3200 people. Its a common mistake that people make when they confused they think the admit rate = # of spots/applicants.

@emil…yup totally. I mean, otherwise, how am I gonna take that uber cool class of yours, right? hehe…think positive thoughts, think positive thoughts…
