The Official USC Baccalaureate/MD Thread!

USC also likes football!!! Pete Carroll’s roster is already stacked with talent, but maybe you could fill a niche.

Boy, did Pete Carroll give JoePa a real whippin’ last New Year’s Day in Pasadena – Ouch!

thanks for everyone’s input. i can probably get a better reading score, but im not sure about getting a perfect in math again or getting a 2200+. does anyone know whether USC superscores, as in take the best score from each section in multiple sittings?

USC does super score but they still don’t like it (like any school) when you take the SATs a ridiculous amount of times, apparently shows your like too perfectionist and too focussed on numbers, at least thats what I’ve heard.

i think your gpa is awesome lol. I had a 3.6 and got into BU and UConn, so I mean it means something, but only to a point. Like everyone else has said, you’re a pretty well rounded guy, so that’ll help you in the admissions process.

I don’t feel like typing out my stats
but I’ll sum them up

34 ACT (sat is only 2050 right now, plan to get it up to 2200 before I send it)
4.3 w
maybe 3.8ish uw (if lower, due to one teacher’s garbage grading, ik excuses mean jack ****)
technically #1 in class, but weird system makes many people #1
9 AP’s, 5 on APUSH so far, don’t know about the others
EC’s= VP of NHS, Hospital hours, Free clinic hours at a temple, research at Ohio State, summer class at osu, LOTS of guitar work (rock as well as jazz, classical, and indian classical, plan on sending CD as well as composition)
I’m a pretty solid writer, so hopefully my essays work out? i dunno
I understand if I’m a garbage applicant compared to others

Gambit, one of my friends made the USC program and his stats were crappier than yours. Like little lower SAT and def lower weighted GPA, decent extra curriculars but nothing amazing, but a) he had good essays b) good interviewer c) his extracurriculars were all medical but in different ways (he sorta inflated them) so I think that while its a good idea to up your raw numbers, you should also look over unque ecs that make you stand out and at the same time scream medical commitment cause USC is taking a pretty big gamble.

thanks for your input!

bump? someone give a lil feedback. maybe just on usc in general? could i get in with my stats

any transfers accepted into this program?

can someone give me the links to the site that provides more info about this program?

wow, did anyone apply this year?

I did, along with other programs

what are your stats g35x?

sooo when should we start hearing back from USC?

Late January, I believe. That is when their priority admissions decisions for undergrad come out. We found out by mail last year. After you get admitted for undergrad, they can invite you to interview for the BS/MD program.

Wait, priority admission decisions? ie we get to find out if we got in in january? sweet!

Yep, if you applied by December 1 and they like you you’ll hear by January. Some people will get deferred to around March/April to get their decision, but if you’re accepted to USC then you can’t interview for the BA/MD because the interviews for that program take place before that.

Would we be able to find out about our admission to the BacMD program online anywere, perhaps via email, USConnect, or the view application status page on the BacMD application? I live near Chicago, so it’s possible I may have a heart attack waiting for snail mail.

Also, in the FAQs, it says “Our Baccalaureate/MD students average a 4.3 high school GPA and 2200 combined SAT,” I am assuming that the GPA is weighted on a 5-point scale. Is that correct?

I feel ya Westernerd; I’m from Michigan and will probably get my decision in July judging by the weather :P

Good luck, though! Where else are you applying? Uchicago? Other med-programs?

I’m either USC Bacc/MD or U of Michigan…
