is it okay if i used 2.5HB instead of 2HB?
and is mechanical pencil allowed?
and one more question why do they ask for a specific kind of a pencil?

someone reply please

This question is very easily answered from the College Board site. Use a #2 non-mechanical pencil. Why? Because you want the electronic scanning of your test responses to be as accurate as possible.

*How Do We Ensure Multiple-Choice Accuracy?
The scanning accuracy of SAT answer sheets is very closely monitored through several quality assurance checks, including alignment checks and double scanning of documents. We also control the humidity of the scanning facility to minimize environmental impacts on the system, and we conduct frequent and controlled maintenance of all scanning machines.

The following guidelines are published in our test and practice materials and are given to all test-takers:

Use a No. 2 pencil and a soft eraser. Do not use a pen or mechanical pencil.
Make sure you fill in the entire circle darkly and completely.
If you change your response, erase as completely as possible.
If the test-taker’s marks conform to the published instructions, the scanning and scoring processes, combined with the quality control procedures, are designed to produce an accurate score.*

oh okay thanks

BUT What if it is 2.5HB is it okay or no?

it doesn’t matter
