Is it okay to use a 2B pencil for SATs?

I checked in Wikipedia that a No. 2 Pencil is actually 2HB. I bought a 2B pencil!!! Oh no! Can I still use the one I boughtt?

You can use whatever (pen, pencil, etc.) as long as the bubbles are filled. I used a mechanical pencil on May 7th and got 2280 and 800 math which means that even the grid-ins accept mechanical pencils.

My son “got caught” using a 2.5. His scores still counted, but college board sent him a “you better not pull this stunt again” nastygram.

No lie. This really happened.

No. 2 = HB = any regular pencil or mechanical pencil (despite the frantic enforcement of the “no. 2 pencils only” rule)

Technically, you should be fine. But the better question is why don’t you just use a regular pencil?
