The people who respond to your CHANCE ME post are no more knowledgeable than you

Why did you post a CHANCE ME thread on this post? What are you hoping to gain from the responses?

I know I only made a thread last year because I wanted reassurance and advice from people who have or are going through the same thing.

Did your outcome last year bear any resemblance to the predictions made by the teen responders to your thread?

I think Chance Me threads are more hurt than help. I think most people who make these threads get their hopes up when they hear good things. I also made a thread in the Prep School Parents forum: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-parents/1256197-chances.html

I made one so I could boost myself up, not to actually “chance” myself. I disagree about the previous comment because after receiving positive feedback, it helped allay some of my concerns, although I do know that the kids/parents who are answering know even less about my situation than I do. If I do get rejected, after posting the thread, it honestly won’t make me feel any worse than I would if I hadn’t posted the thread.
