<p>it's not even a requirement for new students to attend the "discussions", right?</p>

<p>and the "essay" (read: short answer) is required as well</p>

<p>I think I'm gonna actually spend time on it 'cos I'm gunning for the $200 prize (big money, I know)</p>

<p>about 10 students win, and prize is small. However, events are required, and you should go, especially the small group discussion thing. Your RA takes you there with sign up list etc. I lived in a triple. One roommate slept through the whole discussion held by some Cornell English prof, and my other roommate forgot to hand in his essay. </p>

<p>You don't want to hear about what happened to them. Too dreadful to think about.</p>

<p>omg do NOT go to the panel discussion. i dont know ANYONE who went, its such bs. there are small group discussions with your floor your RA takes yoiu to, but theyre in like, your lounge. but then one thats with the panel etc. is dumb and no one goes unless theyre insane.</p>

<p>aren't the discussions required? isn't there going to be people ushering you to go to the discussions. if not, i'm not even planning on reading the book</p>

<p>youll learn quickly that for a lot of orientation, "required" means very little.</p>
