The Princeton Review Book...UGH

hey guys, i bought a 11 practice tests for the SAT and PSAT made by Princeton review at the beginning of the year, and i never completed the grammar section, yet as i was solving some grammar problems, i noticed that the questions in the Princeton review book is harder than the ones in the Blue Book which i have already finished, so i was wondering if its just me or if anyone else who use Princeton Review noticed that some of the questions they put into their review books is harder than the ones used by the actual test.

P.S. if anyone could recommend me a review book other than the Blue Book that's great for grammar and critical reading, i would greatly appreciated it. I cant seem to find Gramattix anymore

-Thanks Dave

I thought the PR book was harder than the real thing too. Have you tried the online course from CollegeBoard?

its spelled “grammatix”
get RocketReview Revolution for writing skills

my mom got me the online course and i didnt find it helpful during the time i had with it, i have rocket review revolution went through the grammar section only, i didnt find the other sections helpful in that book

I used the Princeton book and got almost 200 points higher on the actual SAT so it’s good that it’s hard because it overprepares you

grammar is easy on PR, for me at least

how does the critical reading section of Princeton Review compare to the actual SAT?

and is McGraw-Hill a book with good critical reading practice tests?

So far I have found it very helpful once you have used up all the BB tests.

+1 to Salzahrah’s post. I used Grammatix - it’s flippin’ awesome.

The BlueBook is a good example of typical SAT tests. The score you get would be pretty close to what you actually score. Then again, it all depends on the curve as well.

i cant seem to find Grammatix anywhere, if anyone wants to sell me a used copy that would be much appreciated, i feel like the Princeton Review is a little bit harder than the SAT which isnt necessarily bad, i agree with elbeeen that it does help you “overprepare” yourself but sometimes i feel like the questions are either irrelevant or just flat out weird. I did notice alot more diction errors offered in the PR book than in the BB, as for the critical reading ill have to get back to you on that salzahrah i havent really looked at it yet, but the few that i have solved was similar to the ones posted in the BB.

Are you serious? The Princeton Review pales in difficulty to that of the Blue Bookfor CR and Math. The Writing, though, is definitely more difficult. But who cares? This way, it will prepare you for the real test.

@salzahrah The CR is in PR is easier than BB

I like how they emphasize ‘if’ clauses in grammar, though I’ve never seen anything like that on an actual test.

^ Yeah. Some of the sentences are oddly structured and phrased in PR, too, whereas, in the BB, it’s much more clear and comprehensible.

all i wanted to know was if others thought that the grammatical section was harder in the PR than BB, lol sorta had me worried because i was scoring lower in the PR book than the BB itself but i guess i should just stick with my score in the BB

oh i see, thx for the info
what about Barron’s CR? does anyone think it is harder or easier than the BB?

You can call me an orthodox, but I never use PR/Barron’s or any other third-party resources for the SAT.

I found PR’s writing section to be more difficult than BB’s writing section. And I also thought that Barron’s CR was harder than BB’s CR and had some weird questions/question formats that weren’t in BB. But that’s just what I think.

How good is the kaplan book?

kaplan CR sucks
its wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy
too easy
