The Princeton Review said that the AVG GPA for people entering UVA was 4.07

1st I assume this is weighted and second I thought it would be much higher.

Are both of these stats accurate?

For UVa's average GPA to be a 4.07 it would HAVE to be weighted. Different parts of the country use different grading scales but even then, this seems really high. I don't think these are accurate and I wouldn't trust those numbers.

It's a worthless number. Grading scales, weighting policies, competition, grading tendencies and GPA calculations are different at every HS. I don't even know why UVa would release data as weak as that.

thanks for the input

Cav's got it.

Our office doesn't even bother calculating the average anymore because the scales vary so dramatically and some schools are moving away from reporting GPA completely. It's possible that Institutional Assessment crunched that number off of the data we were given, but I wouldn't pay much attention to that stat.

thanks guys
