<p>Hey everyone!
I'm going to be a junior, and the PSAT starts out the year's endless testing mayhem. My goal is to recieve a score higher than 200. I've been studying barron's PSAT/NMSQT books (12th and 13th editions) and have noticed that the questions on the practice tests are difficult. I'm scored significantly lower than last year's official PSAT, which is really strange! </p>

<p>I am also getting the Princeton Review: Cracking the PSAT/NMSQT 2010 edition. </p>

<p>So my questions are:
Is Barron's truly more difficult than the real PSAT? Are the wordlists in the barron's books helpful? </p>

<p>I've heard many good things about Princeton Review (but not much about barron's) , so I'll try that out and see how it goes. </p>

<p>Yes, Barron’s is WAY more difficult. I would stop using it. And don’t buy PR either; it’s useless as well. I haven’t seen the Barron’s wordlists myself, but I would believe that the wordlists in Direct Hits would be more helpful. Try getting The Official SAT Study Guide, 2nd edition. Since the SAT is very similar to the PSAT, you can prepare for the SAT using the Xiggi Method and you should be able to do well on the PSAT as well.</p>

<p>1253729…I want to familiarize and become comfortable with the time limits and length of the PSAT so I use the PSAT books for practice PSAT tests. </p>

<p>No need to buy any material specifically for the PSAT. Get straight to the SAT material, it’s just as helpful.(And yes, Barrons is DEFINITELY harder… I know from experience. There were times when i would get more than half the questions wrong on CR passage and then in the BB I’d get only 1-2 wrong for a whole passage.)</p>

<p>ugh… I should have a word document filled with “PR sucks” comments for threads like these so that I can save some time typing and just copy paste… I can only second what 1253729 said. If you choose not to take our advice, why did you make a thread like this? </p>

<p>Oh, and Jubilant was being sarcastic, I believe. There are tons of threads like these. Try a forum search before posting.</p>

<p>Specifically getting PSAT’s is probably his best option, though practicing on released SAT material will also help.</p>
