When you hear about UT do you think of Tennessee or Texas? Which is "THE" UT?

Tennessee, sorry. Or Utah, depending on the context (= postal code).

Tennessee unless we’re talking about football, where it’s about 50/50.

Texas. Gotta love me some cowgirls. Yeeehawww

If someone said “I go to UT” I’d probably respond with “Austin?”

In honesty, I just think “Oh, football teams in the South who are overhyped and I don’t like.”

(Academically, Texas.)

I’d think Texas.

Toronto. -.-

Tennessee.

Tennessee, obviously.

UT= Tennessee.
UT Austin= Obviously, University of Texas-Austin

Texas. It’s strictly better than Tennessee at everything, so why not go with it?

Yeah, Tennessee was founded first but Texas is the better school.

It’s split so far: 5 for Tennessee, 5 for Texas.

I think if you live in Texas its automatically UT Austin.

I thought Tennessee but then I realized I was on CC; so by experience I guessed Texas.

Texas!

Among family in New England, the answer is the same.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but for some reason UT = Tennessee. maybe it’s because their football helmets, etc. emphasize the T rather than the mascot.

As a Texan at an SEC school, my answer is also 50/50. I have to consider the source mostly.

One time over a break, I was talking with my sister (who goes to a school in Texas), and I mentioned that our cheerleaders fly everywhere except UT for football games, to which she wondered why they would drive from Nashville to Austin…

Texas, duh. :-)

Texas. It is simply more well-known. You see, Tennessee is in backwoods country…
