The SAT

Okay, so I've taken the SAT twice already, and I was comfortable with my final score, but, now, looking through CC, everyone seems to think that scores in my range are "too low." (I am confident that all other areas of my application, from the courses I've taken in high school, to my extracurricular activities, to my essays and recs will be good. Please respond to this thread by considering my SAT score alone.)

I have a 2260: 770M, 760CR, and 730W.

If it would provide a bit of context, my subject test scores are 790 (chem) and 760 (French with Listening).

I am applying EA. Should I retake?

2260? Congratulations!!!

At this point your SAT score won’t get you in but won’t keep you out. It’s now down to the other intangibles. And anyone else who speculates otherwise – I oppose that view.

No don’t retake.

Don’t retake, a 2260 is a legit score and as scores aren’t everything and there are far more important aspects of the application to put your energy into I would stick with what you have.

No don’t retake colleges will think you are a test taking machine, and that you love taking tests. Depending upon what college you are going to a 2260 is quite good. Instead of retaking spend your time doing something else that will get you noticed by colleges, like volunteer or something else.
