The Scholars on ABC

Im Black and I even think Blacks have it to easy in America.

Its almost pathetic, maybe I am different, But I dont want handouts from other people.

well the only way she got to move on is because she beat two other students in the challenge. Theres no way to say that standards were lowered for her there.

Amari: turned down Harvard EA (and a plethora of other excellent schools) for Columbia. Best wishes to her.

Taking information/rumors from this message board and the one on ABC.com, this is a list for nine of them:

Jeremy & Alyssa: Harvard
Melissa: Pomona
Max & Amari: Columbia
Scott: Dartmouth
Milana: Princeton
Liz: Yale
Davis: USC

I don't know about Gerald, but the show made it seem like NYU and Sarah Lawrence were his top choices.

As long as theirs affirmitive action with whites and asians as the norms, I will gladly take all this free money. It is a good day to be a young negro!

haha...and a hispanic....

It's sort of ironic how Davis thought that he was so much more brilliant than all the other candidates and yet ended up in a school with a much higher admissions rate. (this is not a jab at usc, my father is a usc)

I suspect Davis received some very nice merit-based scholarships for USC. Since the Ivies only give need-based aid, and it really didn't look like he would qualify for much in that regards, he probably had to look beyond the Ivies.

makes sense - what did he say his parents' income was?

Tonight is the finale. Watch it guys! I haven't seen it myself, but I heard it's supposed to be awesome (of course my sources are a little biased...lol). You will find out what colleges everyone will attend, and of course the winner of "The Scholar" will be revealed. =]. Watch!

-Jeremy (the token asian...lol).

when is it playing?

8/7 central time

Hmm maybe, just maybe, he WANTS to go there. Or they are giving him a large sum of money? Likewise, I'm going to a #90 school for all the money they'll give me.

I will definitely watch!

Davis said his parents made over 140K or 150K... and Scot said his made less than 50K, apparently.

"These are probably the most important questions you will answer...in your life." - yeah, no pressure!

"Angelina Jolie" - wow

of corse a Black had to win.

could we have it any other way.

What? No, no, you are surely mistaken. You think Melissa won just because she is black? What a disgusting notation. Did you not see any deserving qualities in that girl?

I don't understand why everyone points to racism. Melissa fully deserved that scholarship and I was rooting for her all the way. What heart.

sigh Poor girl. She made the mistake of thinking that adcom likes unique. Yes, they love 'unique' but only to a certain extent.

Actually, Melissa is half African American, half caucasian. Did one half of her deserve it more than the other half?

Jeremy, congratulations on your scholarship, good luck at Harvard, and I hope you keep in touch with the others.

Gerald is Uni. of North Texas

I am black, and yes she won becasue she was black./

Jeremy has gone to,, Harvard! Not surprising, though :)
