You guys thought I was going to write all the ways I know how to make A's, right? Wrong. I am leaving it up to you. If everyone just posted a few of their tips, we could have a whole list of tips, and success stories, etc. Soo just post all your "A Worthy Tips" here!

Ha ha you smart butt! >P Secrets to making A's....hhmmmmm don't be lazy like me! :P

Just read out of the book.. that's what I do. I hardly ever listened to my teachers.

i'm a typical honors/AP student, so the way i make As is waiting until the absolute last minute to study (which is the block before sometimes). with history classes (i hate history...), i cram my brain full of information, ace the test, and forget everything.

oh, and i always do my homework.

Getting As.... hmmm...

Yea, doing homework always helps to remember stuff. Even though it's repetitive, it really helps you to remember stuff. And just listening during class. It saves you half the work if you just listen. Between listening and doing homework regularly, minimal studying is required.

(genetics)

Memorize every word till your brain burns out.

You just need to figure out your teachers and work more or less accordingly.

For material tests (History, Biology), CRAM your butt off or listen in class and trust your memory.

For concept classes, doing your homework goes a long way.

For classes where homework counts siginificantly (In my precal class, it was 25%) towards your grade do it all. Locking up 25 points towards your grade is a good safety cusion. (Since quizzes were worth so much, I ended up with an A first quarter with a B test average.)

the best thing is to work smart, not [necessarily] hard. if you feel you know the material, dont do extra work your teacher may have assigned you. know what to write down and when to just listen. use your time efficiently, do homework in another class when you are listening to a lecture that you are already comfortable with. most importantly, know how the teacher 'works' and what they are looking for. most have some sort of a formula that, if followed, will show them that you are attentive. you are responsible for how well you understand what is needed of you and how well you mold to that.

Sleep (well).

Gee there are secrets to making A's? Why hasn't anyone told me these secrets before?

You shouldn't go to class with the aim of finding a way of making an A, but finding a way to gain some knowledge that you can carry on with you for the future.

With that in mind, if you don't care about the class you're taking and just want to make an A, do what db06 just posted.
Work smarter, not harder. Learn the style of your teacher and adapt to it. Figure out how he/she makes tests and only study the material that he/she would put on it. Use time wisely, if you're sitting in a class and its boring and you already know the stuff, do other homework. Try to look smart, answer questions in class, do your work well (make projects look good, but they don't have to be perfect), etc. There are tons of other ways to make A's, these really aren't secrets.

the original question was about getting A's, but i find that i am interested in the vast majority of the material i learn about in school. yes, grades are important, but it's not like i am some sort of a mindless robot. some people at my school, yes. they do only care about grades and they are the ones who get extremely agitated when they dont make all A's or get what they want. but giving these tips doesnt mean that i or we dont care about learning, because i, at least, do, and sometimes i find myself looking up random info on online to investigate some more.

My history teacher gave me all As this year because I was the best student in his English class last year...( I know, I know...teachers pet...) But I didn't do like ANYTHING and was still the best in the class.

However, don't rely on this "method".

Agree with Michael Pham. As long as your main goal is getting straight A's, you education is superficial and your goal is a collection of fallacies. You've probably realized that almost everyone has straight A's. If you have mastered a concept use it.

"It isn't who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you."

cramming is very very very effective- i use it a lot (maybe too much.... lol)

Study only the day before! Spreading things out..only makes things harder to remember. Also study the day of the test in the morning if you get to school early. Me and my friends do these alot...I think most of them get A's. I always study the day before all my tests..and I usually ace them because the information is fresh tommorow.

Listen very intently in class. That way, you don't have to go home and review too much, just skim through your notes/book. Cram like crazy about two days before a big test or the night before a quiz.

Do your homework, esp. in a class that you have trouble in. But if you're a math genius, you could skip the math hw and do work in other classes. Same goes for all subjects.

Get a scanner, scan report card, use MS-Word to edit, and hand to parents.

Anyway, do all(all of it, dammit. Don't get marks off for stupidness) your homework and atleast look over material for tests. That's the easiest way to make As.

Overachievers should look into kissing up to teachers.
