I feel like if the SAT studying people have one of these threads, then why shouldn't the ACT studying people have one of these? Whether you have just started or you didn't even open your book yet, this is the thread to ask questions regarding anything about the September ACT.

I’ve heard from some people that the April ACT is the easiest in terms of the curve because everyone has to take them, while at other dates often only smarter/more hard working people take the test. Does anyone know how hard the other dates, I.e. September might n

@fireonice THat seems to be the popular rumor that’s floating around. IN reality though, the curve is predetermined.

I’m wondering if it’ll have a dual reading passage. I heard it’s a change the act is making.

For the juniors (or sophomores) out there, do you guys know anything about the ACT possibly being online starting from spring?

@actfreak - what do you mean by a dual reading?

@Dannnn
On the june test the third reading passage was split into two and you had to compare/contrast them

@fireonice
Yes starting spring 2015 the act is going online. You can take it on the computer at a testing center. The benefit of this is that you will get your score immediately. You can also opt to take it on paper and receive your score in the usual 2-8 weeks

^This proves that the ACT curve is predetermined.

@An1100345 - good point.
@austin23 - In what way were you supposed to compare them? What kind of questions were asked?

Most of the questions you did not have to compare them. I remember one question where it asked what was different about the two passages but other than that there wasn’t much comparing/contrasting

bump to keep this alive

@austin23 - Were the passages related?

Hi, guys. September 13, 2014 will be my first (and hopefully last) attempt at the ACT. Since I am unable to buy an ACT prep book and the ones at my library are in poor condition, I decided to make an ACT math study guide. Here’s the link (just in case someone might either want to use it, possibly add to it, or make suggestions): https://docs.google.com/a/merion-mercy.com/document/d/1AsCPjgiVmUDLv7kmy4nT68l-uQ7CR9qdt-UClekHr1g/edit?overridemobile=true#

1st Edit: For some reason, a part of the URL isn’t showing up (the part that is supposed to say docs as in google docs has stars).
2nd Edit: Now the whole URL is showing.

Yo guys ive been doing some practice tests, the real released tests starting from 2004. I realized that the reading section on the early ones from 2004 were abit longer and harder than the newly released ones lfrom 2012-2013. Can anbody approve this? Is this a thing or is it just me?

@tugonu Where did you find the REAL tests ? Is there any place to find them?

Do u guys think if I also take the act in october I will be ready for all college regular deadline to send my score.

@fahi12 For regular decision - definitely. For ED, I don’t think so, but I would double check on that.

Has anyone heard the rumor that the September tests are known to be harder? I heard that the other day. I need to improve my reading score by one point (minimum) to have a super scored 33 composite. If I can get my reading into the 30’s (I have a 25 right now), it will be a 34 super score.

Anyways, should I pay the fee to go to the October test? I want to give myself the best chance, but I’m also afraid that October is too late for most early action schools (November 1st deadline).

Hey u guys should check out cates tutoring. They give free mock exams. Unfortunately its in some states.
