I find that although many students fall victim to quantification, i.e GPA and SAT or ACT, an excellent essay can really be the hook that distinguishes you apart from other applicants.
I am a high-school senior, just like most of you on the forum.
I recently finished my essay and would like to offer, that if anyone wants their essay reviewed or help with ideas, I would be happy to help with some advice on content and standard structure.
Message me if you would like some help
I know this is not the typical “chance” so I apologize,
To those who already have flawless essays, great for you! I hope you all receive nice large packets in the mail this December, or early next year.
Best wishes,
-Lucas
You don’t have any basis of fact for that statement. If you don’t make the minimum cutoffs for grades and test scores, you won’t get in. They need to know you can actually do the work, and essays don’t prove that. I am sure every once in a while someone with borderline qualifications comes along with an essay with a compelling life story (eg, refugee story, severe health challenge overcome). But very few students have those types of stories.
