The surgeon says he needs to remove my wisdom teeth.

Why are you guys so worried about the money aspect?
Do you not have dental insurance?

So I've been wondering, what happens if you don't take your wisdom teeth out- I mean if you just leave it alone?

i'm having mine out tuesday.

if you don't get them out they can push your other teeth together, and also promote gum disease.

even if you don't "need" to have them removed, they're vestigial so not having them won't hurt you at all

seriously, why can't they evolve the heck out of our mouths?

i hear the drugs are fun
i'll be getting mine out in the fall

I had mine removed back on spring break..

1 day of numb-ness in the mouth
and the next day i was fine

Some people are going to have a hell of a time after getting them taken out, and others will just have one day of ailment..it just all depends. Having the chance though, I would have them removed

I'll turn 49 this year and I have all four of my wisdom teeth. Never had a problem with them, but that's just me. If you have any doubts about the advice you received, the prudent thing to do would be to get a second, and perhaps a third, opinion from a qualified professional.

I would say most definitely get them out. My mom didn't and now she has to get hers out at an age that she would prefer I don't disclose (lol). The problem with it is that since they are squeezed in so far back there, it's difficult even for the dentist to get back there to clean them, and even harder with a normal toothbrush. Because of this, they are starting to decay and soon the damage will spread to the surrounding teeth. She has had fillings put in these teeth to fill up the cavities, but they aren't staying in right...the teeth just need to come out. I won't see her right after she gets hers done so I won't be able to give you a report on how bad it is for her, but I can tell you from the experience of numerous friends and both of my siblings that it's really not that bad getting them out as a teenager. So I say, if your dentist thinks you will have problems down the line, get them out now and save yourself the pain.
