I still have mine - my dentist said they weren't impacted.

My dentist said that I will eventually have to get my wisdom teeth taken out. Eeks!

i will in 2 weeks

I had mine taken out back at thanksgiving, but it was pretty untraumatic.

I was born without any wisdom teeth.

My dentist has never even mentioned the words "wisdom teeth" to me, so I think I'm good. :D

When do they usually come in? I'm not sure if I got them in and they're fine, or if they haven't started yet. The back of my mouth bothered me for a while, but that went away. Since I got my braces off I really don't go to the dentist. Only if I have a problem, which I haven't had. So yeah I don't know.

Wikipedia says 17 - 24, but I'm only 14 and I got mine waaay back.

I'm the same as Anniushka... I was born without wisdom teeth. :D

I don't think I've ever been to the dentist. W00T. :D

Same idea as ChaosTheory's. I'm way overdue for a check-up... I've been avoiding it because I'm sure he'll find a bajillion cavitites and other things that need to be fixed in painful ways...

-The Painful Coot66

Ah I'm getting mine out in a couple of weeks too! Two of mine are literally horizontal and pushing into my back molars. I'm nervous lol

Oh, goodness. I have a painkiller story. My friend who got them pulled was talking online, completely normal for a while, and then launched into his theory about the birds in his backyard, and how one of them was the leader, and they were planning to attack the squirrels that climbed up their birdfeeder. I sent the conversation back to him the next day and he didn't remember anything.

^^That's about how mine were. The horizontal part, at least...they weren't pushing yet, but I had just finished with lots of fun orthodontics, so they get them out before they could re-mess up my teeth!

Ya mine haven't actually started to push yet but they are up against them. And ya I am a month away from finally getting my braces off so I was JUST told that I suddenely need to get my wisdom teeth out b4 I get my braces off. Fun fun...

The saga of my wisdom teeth: (note: I was born in 1986)

2000: Told by the orthodontist to get them out in the next few years, as they were positioned in a way that they would push other teeth if they were to erupt. Also got braces off this year, they had been put on in 1999.

2001: Told same thing by dentist and wisdom teeth remover guy he referred me to. I decided to postpone it for a few years, although this guy estimated that when I turned 18 I would be having problems.

2004: I turn 18. No problems.

2005: I turn 19. Still no problems.

2006: I turn 20. Still no problems and the teeth are starting to erupt by this point, but only on my left side. They are coming in drum roll please NORMALLY!!!

2007: Visited new dentist, said "keep them unless they cause a problem". No comments were made on the x-ray on the other side, although I believe those two are going to come in soon as well. Also, today, I still wear my retainers from time to time to keep my teeth from coming out of alignment.

Don't believe the hype behind the whole wisdom tooth removal deal. The reason I never got them out in the early part of the decade is because I play trombone and couldn't miss practice time. Today I'm not as serious about my trombone (I still play) but there is no way I'd be able to put up with any downtime and I wouldn't want to sacrifice a break for any of this stuff. But if the dentist okayed it, I guess I'm fine!

i got mine out yeasterday morning. went in at 8:40AM. i got the full IV deep sedation, along with novacaine(what he recomended). only thing i really remember before having everything done was when he asked if the drugs were working i told him that i felt trashed lol. i was out of the office by 10 and felt fine. went home and slept until about 2, took the lorcet's he perscribed, and feel fine. little bit of swelling but nothing bad

there's not a lot of down time at all. you could get it done on a friday and be fine by monday...

How much does it hurt?

Did u get drugs? lol

1.

it doesn't hurt bad at all. like if you fall and scrape up your knee or something, that pain is worse than what you'll be feeling. the only part that really hurt kinda bad was when i was eating. even though it was soup, it still hurt really bad.

i was completly out for the surgery, but got back me teeth. the ones that were impacted are cut in half, so i don't think you'd want to be awake when they did it.

EDIT: one of the steroids they give you though the IV to help prevent swelling does make your, uhhh, "stuff" burn for a few seconds though. :(

2.
i got lorcets. their 10mg/650mg hydrocodone/acetaminophen (vicodins are 7.5mg/650mg, so they're extra strength vicodins lol). he told me to take an extra strenght tylenol with each does(ever 4 hours). today i'm just taking moltrins becasue the pain isn't that bad, and want to keep the lorcets just in case. i am, however, taking 5 moltrins ever 4 hours.(but it's not like that's that many...)
