The TA stopped responding to my emails

I am in my final semester of graduate school and I am in a tough class that I need to complete to graduate so I am trying to keep up with it as best as I can. FYI, I am a distance student so I can not go see the TA in person. I'm paying a lot of money for this course and the TA is not helpful at all.

We have weekly homeworks so in the beginning he was very prompt with his response. I admitted to him that my background in a certain area is weak so I needed some guidance. I only emailed him during week 1 and 2. Now when I send him emails, he doesn't even respond. All I asked him was when we can expect to get the graded homeworks back. I also asked him a question on a homework assignment and he didn't respond to that either.

I need to see my HW grades so I can track my progress and see what I did wrong. Exams are coming up, this course is difficult and I would like to try to get the best grade as I can achieve.

Contact the course professor with your concerns and explain the TA’s non-responsive behavior. He might get a kick in the pants the likes of which you can’t do from distance :)

Agreed - you need to contact the professor. But remember that you don’t yet know WHY the TA isn’t responding, so don’t be accusatory.

I had a student who couldn’t understand why I only replied to half of his emails. We discovered that my spam filter caught everything he sent from his yahoo account and his blackberry; I only received e-mails he sent from his college account. Not saying this is the issue with your TA . . . but sometimes there are explanations.

cc course director and professor and/or send the same email multiple times. Some people don’t check their email carefully and overlook messages. If the TA has seen it and just prioritized too low to deal with it, involving the course director and professor should instantly move it up the priority list.
