Alright. So I took the SAT I in may, got a 2050(720M, 710W, 620CR); think I can get around 2150 if I retake it… fairly certain… Now I’m poised to take the Math II and Physics subject tests on saturday. On the spot registration …

The problem is, I’m not totally sure about Physics. Will get a good score on Math II. And, one of the schools I’m applying to needs 3 subject test scores.

So here are my options:

Take the Math II and Physics SAT IIs on Saturday, get a 700-750 score on either, take Math 1 without prep but get it canceled if it doesn’t go too well.
Then, retake the SAT I in December and hopefully get a 2150ish score.

Forget about the saturday test date, take the Physics, Chem and Math II tests in December, hopefully get a 2250ish+ score. Stick with the earlier SAT I score - 2050 and retake it in January for the colleges that accept Jan scores …

Do colleges give equal weightage to SAT I and SAT II scores ?

The one school that asks for 3 SAT IIs - are they "required" or "suggested" or "preferred" - in other words, is there room to slip by with only two tests?

Math I and Math II are usually not accepted as separate tests. Math II is preferred by many schools.

Is there a chance you could take a different third SAT II this Saturday? Many test centers offer standby testing for everything except Language with listening. You should go directly to the College Board and find out if this is an option.

It seems like retaking the SAT I in December will help with the large majority of your applications, and I would recommend it. While 2050 is an excellent score, a boost will certainly not hurt you, and this is an exceptionally competitive year.

assuming your are applying RD, take SAT in Dec. One way for a math-science type to really standout from your peers is a high score on the SAT-CR. Since you received a 700 on the W portion, with a couple of weeks of leisurely prep, you could likely hit 700+ on CR as well.

Concur with others: if you are strong in math (thru precalc), take Math 2 adn skip Math 1.

If you need the subject tests, take them on Saturday. You may need to see those scores before you can make a final decision on colleges. December's report will be too late for you to use in your decision. Haven't you already procrastinated enough?

All of my classmates took the subject tests in October, messed them up real bad(all of them got <2100). So that's why I wanted to take them when I was 100% confident ...

hustle on down to your local bookstore. Pickup CB's Real Subject Tests and go home and take one or two tests. Within 50 minutes (per test), you will have a good idea of your scoring range.
