which to retake - SAT I or II

SAT I: 1400 (750v/650m)
SAT II: 660 writing, 660 IIC, 600 physics

I was thinking of retaking the SAT I so I could boost my math score (if I break 1450 or even 1500, I'm good for most schools), but then my SAT IIs are not so stellar either. I've taken the SAT I twice and each SATII subject test twice. Now, which one should I retake for the third time in January?

You should probably retake the SAT IIs if you think that you could improve. With such a strong verbal score, a 700+ writing score would be good. You could try retaking writing and math and then take a new subject test if there is one that you could do well in.

1400 is a solid score that will not keep you out of top colleges, but if you think that you would improve more in the SAT I than II, take the SAT I again instead.

What schools you applying to?

I say II, it carries more weight overall.

I agree with farnsworth...it really depends where youre applying

II's, your IIC and physics schools really look like they will hurt, since the curves are kind of generous and you are probably at a not-so-good percentile

Yes, which schools are you applying to and are the sat ii's required or recommended?

brown
upenn
stanford
the UCs, but Jan. scores aren't accepted
USC (not sure if they accept Jan scores)

plus some other matches/safeties later

I checked most of their sites and they say they accept the January tests, but correct me if I'm wrong. almost all require three SAT IIs, and if not, they're strongly recommended anyway.

if i do much better on my IIC, I assume that would make up for my 650 SAT I math. plus I'm looking into engineering or computer science, so I guess my IIC and physics scores are the really more important ones. my percentiles for those are in the 25-30 range :(

so I guess I'm taking the IIs again.

Well one would hope - I would say retake the SAT IIs.

And if you're only applying to UCB or UCLA, then consider another safety.

Best.
